As a kid there was a tonne of variety in a fun world. You didn't know what was coming next and the game kept you engaged as you never knew when you'd have a chance to get a pearl (for upgrades) or have a new photo opportunity! I wanted to go everywhere and do everything as it got me things!

The main character Jade is cool. She's looking after a bunch of orphans and scraping by as an independent reporter. You want her to succeed. There's a lot of jerks who are heroes in video games. It's refreshing to like a person you play as. The characters care about each other too.

It has a very memorable soundtrack and with action, stealth, light puzzles, racing, exploration, photography, mini games and even space battles nothing out stayed it's welcome at the time. Maybe that mini game with the shark...

At the time is key. And I could totally see why someone who was older and more discerning would see that none of the things the game did was great. You can totally pick apart all of the elements for not being great!

However, when ya mama won go, dere a place ya shud naw, Mammago's garage! It has the best garage of all time. There needs to be more Caribbean rhinos in games!

The longer time passes the memories get better while playing the game probably gets worse!

@daveyo520: I watched it in chronological without knowing there was different orders to watch it. I felt I got a lot more out of the weirder episodes that way as it set up what the characters were like beforehand. If i was recommending to a friend to enjoy the show I'd say do that, if you want the "experience" carry on with what you're doing :)

I think we should let Link decide on what gender label to take if any. How would you like it if your gender was the subject of discussion?

What do you think Link?

The best thing about Giant Bomb review and opinion wise is we see what the individuals tastes and skill level is because they show so much game play and we get so much personality out of the staff. The combination of their written thoughts, spoken views and shown game play gives me the absolute best chance to see if I should value their input on a title.

We know Jeff hates all games post 1960, we know Austin only likes games with Black Disabled Lesbian Post Ops as lead characters and that Dan is a filth bag whose opinions don't matter. (These statements are false and a joke and I need to say this because some of you are really dumb!) (It's maybe not a joke about Dan...)

I think the more fun conversation is what should the games be for the game reviewing license.

Gold Trophy Gran Turismo's license test to review racing games.

Beat Dark Souls 1 with no summons to review rpgs etc.

Taking the eight podcasters 1-10 individual lists and assigning each entry points based on the formula 1 points distribution system (1 point for 10th and 25 points for a 1st etc) produces these results.

MGS V Phantom Pain 1st with 117 points

Super Mario Maker 2nd with 65 points

Rocket League 3rd with 43 points

Rise of the Tomb Raider 4th with 35 points

Bloodborne 5th with 33 points

Splatoon 6th with 29 points

Undertale 7th with 28 points

Axiom Verge/Life Is Strange Tied for 8th with 27 points

Invisible, Inc./Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes Tied for 10th with 25 points

Why even bother with the podcast right?

@corvidus: Are you actively trying to sound like a conservative US politician? Like, seriously, the "you're the real racist for noticing that people have skin colors" line is not a new revelation, buddy - it's what people like Rush Limbaugh spout whenever they get called on their shit.

Here's the bottom line - it's great that you're not bothered by anything in the Witcher 3. Go with god. But "You shouldn't be bothered about peoples skin colour where there isn't an issue" - that's a different story. What exactly makes you the arbiter of what constitutes an "issue?" What gives you the right to tell people how they should and shouldn't think? Did you ever consider that skin color isn't that much of an issue to you here because skin color isn't an issue for you in real life, and so you can't see past your own advantages?

I have a friend who was sitting outside a bar once, and was arrested by the police for looking like a guy who broke into a house in a nearby neighborhood. He was in jail for a week before he went to trial, treated like shit, and his lawyer advised him to plead guilty to a crime he didn't commit - all of that was because of his black skin. Now, clearly, that's a bigger problem than representation in video games - but if my friend comes up and tells me he feels a little uncomfortable in the world of the Witcher 3 - do you think I should tell him he's wrong, and it's not an actual problem?

So yeah, glad you don't have issues like this, and think they're "bizarre and ridiculous." Maybe keep that to yourself next time, though.

"I just find these sorts of things bizarre and ridiculous" "When a fantasy setting has a population of one skin colour that's not for me." Those are opinions of myself not me telling others how to think.Taking quotes out of context and not answering questions sounds to me more like a politician... I'm also not white, i'm mixed and i didn't play the Witcher 3 so i'd ask you to fully read a post before telling me what I've said and how advantaged my life is! Also keep your religion to yourself next time.

I'll ask you the questions that i'm interested in finding out the answers to again. Because I don't understand something i find it strange then i ask to find out. Answer them if they apply to you.

Why is it important in a fantasy setting to have skin colour diversity?

Why does it bother you that everyone is white in this fantasy setting?

Would one person of colour be enough? Two? 10%? 50%? 70%? Where would you not be disappointed? Does every game need a accurate reflection of race based on the earths ethnicity %?

Does your interest in racial diversity only apply to humanoids or humans?

Is a plausible fiction enough for you to not be bothered by this?

When you say "I am disappointed by the lack of people of colour in this particular game." Do you mean "Wouldn't it be more interesting if there were a wider spectrum of game design and settings instead of a lot of the same thing across the industry"?

I enjoyed reading this article! But because I conform to the idea of not challenging the things I agree with and only picking up things I disagree with I really have to question this statement.

"Yes, I still wish there were some people of color in the game."

It's the same strange comment i saw here after Dan and Jason got hired. "I wish they added some colour" and when Austin got hired i saw "I wish they added some estrogen". I wished they added people who I found entertaining... (I do) but I don't care what they look like, if they have tits or who they want to shag. I come to this site for entertainment so what I want out of it is entertainment. Does entertainment equal skin colour or sexuality or gender? Not to me.

Why do you wish this? This is so weird to me. This is a game set in a non real setting. Who cares what the skin colour of the inhabitants is? I don't care if they're all black, all white, all asian, all pink and yellow spots. Would one person of colour be enough? Two? 10%? 50%? 70%? Where would you not be disappointed? Does every game need a accurate reflection of race based on the earths ethnicity %?

Does there need to be a scientific explanation for the absense of ethnic diversity for it to be ok? "Well the world has three suns very far away and it spins like thus..." Would you be disappointed if the lore said that the people of colour had killed all the white people because they could. In other words is fiction enough of a reason for it to be ok there's no ethnic diversity in a location?

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

It seems that Martin Luther King didn't get his message through to some. Some who still abuse people because of the colour of their skin and some who seem to have a desperate need to highlight skin issues in bizarre situations. You shouldn't be bothered about peoples skin colour where there isn't an issue. When you have white US police officers being blatantly racist that's an issue. When a fantasy setting has a population of one skin colour that's not for me.

Austin do you consider yourself a racist? If you're bothered by too many people of one colour that isn't your own... or do you feel inferior? Do you have your own issues about race that you're projecting onto this game? I've come to realise that peoples colour doesn't matter.

Why are the Goombas brown? Why is a white guy stomping on them? Is Mario a racist? Why is there a Black yoshi in the latest smash game and no White one? I just find these sorts of things bizarre and ridiculous. It's total over analysis. It's a non real setting. Or is it a problem that is only applicable to humanoids? Or humans?

I'm white/chinese looking but thinking about it, that shouldn't matter. I've never played the Witcher 3 and don't care about defending it. I think what people mean to say when they write this is "i wish there was more diversity when it comes to making games" in terms of there being games where everyone is black or everyone is gay or a mix but they write it as "i wish there was more diversity IN THIS GAME" which isn't accurately portraying their views.

@blackout62:

Man I want to be a douche and ask you to link me to her video series on revenge for your own murder, stopping tyranny, ending slavery, protecting your way of life, helping elf spirits, surviving in hostile environments etc but I'm #endingthehate.

I think you should take the time to watch or play the first 20 minutes of the game before claiming there's one reason behind the protagonist's actions. I don't think it's well written or acted but he doesn't lack for motivation in doing what he's doing. If you are your character and don't know why or how your garrison has been overrun by giant greenish creatures led by a guy who ritually slaughters you and your family and leaves you in a state between life and death fused to an elf spirit then maybe curiosity is why you play on.

Everyone is entitled to judge how effective a story is in making you care or curious about its characters and conclusion. I didn't in this game! However, to exclaim as Youssef Cole does "Like, why should I hate this Sauron guy?" when there are obvious reasons 20 minutes into the game I feel is utterly ridiculous. You don't have to read the lore and the game makes it very very clear and extremely personal as to why you might not like this Sauron guy or specificaly the people under his command. I mean, unless you agree with Sauron's and his minions actions and intent... Again judge the effectiveness, don't make up that there is no motivation.

That tweet made me go hmmm, this tweeter didn't express his thought well and probably shouldn't be featured on tweets that make you go hmmm unless he goes hmmm and thinks before tweeting ill thought out tweets.
