Ok, I've been reading this thread from the beginning, and I've seen both of the episodes in question. 
 
AS A MUSLIM, and as a human being, I do not agree with how they portray any of the religious figures in those episodes. I mean come on, are we really that insensitive that the only form of comedy we find funny is to belittle other people's beliefs? What ever happened to respect your fellow man? Why is it so hard not to make fun of one another?
 
As a Muslim, I will tell you, that I completely do not agree with death threats and resorting to violence. Sadly, a MINORITY of Muslims have taken it into their heads that you must react to any negative with violence and threats. This in no way speaks about Islam itself, I know people have heard countless times that Islam is the religion of peace, and I don't exactly blame you if you think otherwise.  But give it a chance, and actually think outside the box for a little bit. Whether you agree with Islam or not, you have to admit that Muslims are pretty much this generation's Nazi's, or the cold war's Russians. We are the thing to hate right now, and I get it. But at the same time, I'm asking people to be a little less ignorant, I guarantee you, if media outlets stopped reporting about extremists, and every little threat given out, the extremist minority will give up. Why? Because they are doing it for attention. What do you do when a child wants attention and has a temper tantrum? You ignore him/her. 
 
It isn't asking a lot, I agree 100% that the majority of good, peaceful Muslims, shouldn't let the minority speak out and get all the coverage, and we should resort to words and talks with people that offend us. But it is very hard, because the media doesn't want a peaceful story, they want one that will make everybody angry, so that they can focus their anger on one set of people.
 
I will re-iterate, yes the extremists need to chill the hell out and not let every little thing get under their skin, but at the same time, we all are still humans, and humans should be held to a higher morality, dignity, and respect for their fellows. What the southpark creators are effectively doing is instigating a fight, and if any of you don't see that, then you are truly blind.
 
Also, anyone who believes that Islam is the only religion that has extremists is sorely mistaken. As a previous history major, I can spend days explaining how every other religion, small or large has seen a time when the extremists of that religion were seen as the majority. You have to remember that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, it's very hard to keep all these new people who think they know best under control.
 
I just want to end with saying that I do not speak for all Muslims, I simply have stated my opinion as one, and also as someone who has lived in the states most of his life. Sorry for the wall of text.

I am atheist, but i guess it is disrespectful, i am surprised this is the first episode of South Park with ,muhammad in it.

So religion causes people to die. Have you not ever read history? And the one thing we know from history is that it repeats itself. Sorry folks no living in a different planet for us, so sort of religious delusion is going to kill us all, whether it's muslims or christians they're all insane and unreasonable
