I would recommend watching the first two movies. While they are a little dated, I consider them sci-fi classics. Colonial Marines is also a direct sequel to the second movie, so it might help you understand the story better if watch the movies.

Wow really i never even knew that! I expected it to be based on them not continue the story, guess video games are finally becoming a good source to tell a story . Who is writing it anyone from movies or is gearbox allowed to do what they want.

Here's a link to the trailer where Randy says that their continuing the story. I have no idea who the writer/writers are, but I hope its good.

Yeah, I just found out there was a sequel coming out in 3 weeks myself, hard to find info on it.

I'm actually optimistic about this new sequel, of course people that played the original will just want to get the original game again, and will probably want to kill themselves because of all the tedious methodical micromanagement involved (which I loved at the time, but get frustrated with nowadays (The original JA came out like 13 years ago (we're old))).

So the new control mechanics shown in the gameplay trailers seems interesting to me, hope they are fun to play with as well.

Also, that new X-COM: Enemy Unknown game from Firaxis, hope that's awesome too.

Same here! I didn't know this game was coming out until I looked at steam's store page about two weeks ago. I love the idea of one of my "old" favorites getting a modern day revamp.

And the new X-Com looks awesome! I'm glad its in the hands of Firaxis.

This saddens me, because despite its flaws Enslaved was a fun and unique experience. I would love to see more or its universe, but that looks like its not going to happen. :(

Qwikster? Really? That has got to be one of the worst names I have ever heard.

Despite the crappy name change, if they can get newer games to me quicker at a decent/lower price, I might be switching from gamefly.
