My top 10 most anticipated 2017 releases

It feels like video games just keep getting better and better. We've thrown away the shackles that say "These types of games are ruining the industry", because they are just making games for everyone these days and 2017 looks to continue that trend.

List items

  • Yakuza series is really getting some momentum again thanks to Sony's #BuildingTheList initiative. I've been posting in lengths about Yakuza 0 when it was first set to get released in Japan and now I'm super hype for the western release.

  • As far as Rockstars games go, RDR is the one I've played through the most times. I can still get impressed with the technology and detail they put into every aspect of their games, but I'm worried they'll skimp on the single player stuff, considering how much money they are raking in on GTAV multiplayer.

  • It won't be your valentine, but it'll have dual audio. With so many Persona-likes over the recent years, I wonder if the formula has lost its magic? Word on the street has be positive, so I'm stoked.

  • Valkyria Chronicles is probably my all-time favorite game. This one looks to be massively different, but from what I've seen of it so far I'm very interested in it.

  • Didn't spend a lot of time with the first NieR, but everyone says that it pays off once you get deeper into it. The demo for Automata instantly felt good and has gotten me super stoked for the release. Even pre-ordered that CE with the statue and I usually don't do that anymore.

  • I've been eagerly anticipating this one since it was announced and the recent demo just filled me with a special kinda warmth that this whole world gives off. Kat is the ultimate PlayStation mascot.

  • Most of Nintendo's own games don't really cut it for me, so if it's just gonna be another lineup of Mario games and Animal Crossing, then I don't think it'll be for me, but their handhelds have always had amazing 3rd party titles on them and THAT I'm looking forward to... assuming the Switch will be a success. Otherwise I think those developers will move their business elsewhere.

  • Forget about Smash, forget about Street Fighter X Tekken, forget about Onimusha Blade Warrior. THIS is the perfect mix of YOUR favorite characters in one action-packed game!

  • Ace Combat franchise took a bit of a nosedive (Oho~) with Assault Horizon, when they tried to chase that Call of Duty money like everyone else was on the market. From the trailers for 7, it seems to be back on track, so fingers crossed for a hit!

  • This one is finally getting localized for the west and while I didn't find the first one as snappy as I'd liked, I'm hopeful that this one will be a faster game.
