Some words of wisdom taken from Platinum (via Gaf)

It seems like a lot of people discuss sales as if it has any kind of baring on how fun a game is. At the end of the day should it really matter to the consumer? Here are a few quotes by Platinum (talking about The Wonderful 101) that really stuck out to me and I felt like sharing.

"Buy the game and worry about the sales never. The fun you have will stay the same.

I get wanting to root for a winner, but the minute that crazy sales makes a game more fun is the minute that it becomes something worth worrying about as a gamer."

- PlatinumGamesJP

"We worry about making the fun. You worry about the playing fun.

Let other people worry about the sales."

Sales matter to the consumer because if a system doesn't sell, no one makes games for it.

Oh, and...

Or there's no sequels. Or the sequel is on a shitty system no one owns (Bayonetta 2).

Sales are a great indicator to see if we;re going to see more games like that in the future.

but Platinum is smart in saying to ignore sales stuff. Too many people focusing on bad sales may create a negative light on their game and lose them more sales that they need.

I got an email notification for this for some reason. But yeah, worrying about sales numbers is dumb. Just enjoy the game.

Also, besides my previous comment, this kind of sounds like a developer telling consumers 'don't worry your pretty little head about these things sweetheart'.
