Microsoft's E3 Press Conference was Awesome!

After having problems with Gamespot's video player, I was able to turn to G4 to see live, commercial-free coverage of the Microsoft press conference and let me just say I was on the edge of my seat for many of the announcements.

Leading off with Beatles Rock Band completely took me by surprise. I have been psyched for this game since it was announced and the cinematic and live demonstration of gameplay made my anticipation greater. Unfortunately, it seemed to me that Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the widows of Lennon and Harrison were simply present to provide un-needed authenticity to the game show-off. The two surviving members just seemed SO THRILLED to be there. (sarcasm)

I fast forwarded through many of the trailers for games I just wasnt interested in...Forza 3, Tony Hawk RIDE, and a few others. I really liked what I saw of Halo 3: ODST. The best trailer, by far, was the seemingly red herring Alan Wake. Years and years of delays, no news, and no footage led me to believe that this was never coming out. IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! Spring 2010 can't come fast enough!

Facebook and Twitter on Xbox Live were cool to see, as well as Last FM. Not too impressed with the new video service, something I never use.

MGS on the 360, all previous games in the series and a new entry.....SWEET!

The star of the show, by far, was project Natal....all the speculation and rumors of Microsoft's new motion-sensing peripheral could not have prepared me for what was shown today. One of my thoughts while watching this was that the technology, if it is as interactive as the press conference made it out to be, was the movie Minority Report. The free-range motion and level of motion regognition is eerily similar to Stephen Spielberg's vision of the future in Philip K Dick's story.

Well, I don't have too much more to say about the press conference, except that Sony and Nintendo need to have a lot up their sleeves to top Microsoft.

What were your favorite moments of the press conference, if you watched it? Please comment.

It was pretty sweet but no Perfect Dark 2 or anything from Rare made me *sadface*.

It was pretty good. Although most of the motion stuff and the social networking integration didn't really excite me. But, I wil say that G4's stream online held up very well and I was able to watch it there unlike at Gamespot where they have this same issue every single year.

It's the same deal as Square, one minor game first, then almost everything later.

As for the topic of this thread... no... Killer... Instinct.... *yells to heavens*

I can tell by your avatar you're a Sony fanboy, I'm not confirming that, I'm stating what's likely going to happen.  Now I don't think every previous game is necessarily going to come to 360, but this is clearly the start of a partnership with Kojima, not a one off.

@freakin: well done captain clever. I am clearly a sony fanboy because i have snake as my display pic. I doubt Konami is going to re-release every MGS from the past. Those will remain exlusive like they should. These off shoot side stories on the other hand, well you can take them. They will never live up to the MGS series i know and love.

I'm not a Metal Gear fan, I think the games are boring.  No it's not just the avatar, I just can see that you are trying to hold on to a glimmer of hope.   Final Fantasy XIII wasn't announced alongside the Final Fantasy MMO either.   And MGS2 was on the original Xbox, so I'm not sure what you're smoking with saying every previous Metal Gear will remain exclusive.  I actually agree that it's unlikely anything previous to MGS4 will be released, I think someone on G4 mentioned that though, which I think is what the poster was refferring to.

I agree, but project natal failed.

"Ever wanted to see the bottom of an avatar's shoe? Now you can. BAM!"

It's a shame too, because it obviously worked in rehearsal, otherwise he wouldn't have tried it. The technology is probably a lot better then this, but everyone has gotten a bad first impression, which is partly also due to the PAINFULLY cheesy promo ads, and Milo was frankly embarrassing. I really hope that won't be released, and that that was just a tech demo or something.

Also, when Don Mattrick first said MGS is coming to 360 he screwed up, said like maculagear solid and didn't bother correcting himself. It's all about first impressions.

Though I admit that MS has a really strong line-up. And Forza 3 looks as good as GT prologue.

No, it didn't. No game there was match for what was known for Sony to show. Not to mention what it can show that we don't know about it yet. Splinter Cell? Crappy Forza, or the one that is not Gran Turismo? A spinoff MGS? Not even Tactical Espionage Action, just Lightning Bolt Action? And multiplatform? Ridiculous.

And this is the greatest irony. The xbox fanboys have been the greatest detractors of game like MGS for being "boring" (anything more complicated than Queers of War confuses them). Now they are getting a MGS game, BUT IT IS AN ACTION GAME and not what they expected. Ha!

Kojima is evil.

Microsoft conference was a sorry excuse for a conference.

Interesting opinions. I happen to disagree with everything you just said, but your input is appreciated nonetheless.

It would be funny if Kojima showed up on the sony stage with the pic of Big Boss, and anounced a mgs game there too. Although if he himself is working on multiple mgs, i hope the quality doesn't drop.

- It was Okish but far from awesome. The Kojima moment was really awkward and badly done, and it was not THE big announcement Xbox 360 users and fanboys were waiting for. I am       not that impressed by "Project Natal" and Milo. I will have to see more of it before I make any judgments.

- The host was a bore.
- I think Kudo Tsunoda jab at the Wii was misplaced and very disrespectful and is sad to see all the 360 fanboys think its funny, he could have done it in a more subble way but he took the     easy rout and he just made himself look like a complete douche.
