I quit cigarettes cold turkey last August, after a good seven years of smoking about a half pack a day. I've been more or less clean since then, with one relapse during a particularly rough week. Quitting smoking is grrrreat though, especially when I realized I was saving so much money by doing so.

For a good long while, I definitely saw the beginning signs of alcohol abuse in myself, and really had to nip that one in the bud. After work every night I was drinking until I passed out for almost a year. That's a bad place to be.

I don't know if any of you read Achewood, but this strip from 2009 is a pretty apt description of moving on after the passing of a person like Ryan. http://www.achewood.com/?date=06282009

Here's hoping this thread blows up and this actually happens. I would buy the hell out of both a CDC and FRD shirt in a heartbeat, and I would do it happily.

I'm having a seriously hard time processing this right now. I've been listening to the Giant Bombcast for years and Ryan's voice has been a comforting presence throughout it all. RIP, Ryan. You will be missed by many.

I'm gonna add as many people in this thread as I can. I just started so there's not too much going on in my town - my native fruit is the magnificent orange and my town is called Beeftown.

PM me with your code if you add me. I've been working on the list from the first page, I'm about 25 deep so far.

Personally I think this video covers it pretty excellently.

Hank has got his shit together.

I couldn't tell, I had to turn this obnoxious fuck off after ten seconds.

And to weigh in - "gif" as in "gift."

Already preordered. Now I just need 5k to buy that RSD vinyl on eBay.

I'm surprised it's not going for more than that. Super obscure electronic vinyls are already expensive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if it climbs up to 15-20k before all is said and done.

Do you not believe this? Do you...

  1. Believe everything in the bible is false?
  2. Believe everything in the bible has no value?
  3. Believe everything in the bible should be discounted?

I have not read the whole Bible, also i was not there. I also don't believe in God. But the bible still has value to me, its stories have meaning from the morals it implies to others. People forget them.

I also think that, even if I don't believe in God, that doesn't give me the right to force my beliefs on to others.

I think you're missing a big part of why this is making people angry. The professor is teaching a biology class at a college level, to students who are paying a large amount of money for the privilege of hearing him lecture. There's a certain amount of expectation that goes along with that - the professor's personal beliefs are all well and good but do not belong in a science curriculum, full stop.
