Win32 is the older Windows API that games and most programs used before Windows 10 introduced their Universal Windows Platform (UWP). UWP is much more restrictive in what developers can do, and it became mandatory for the MS Store. Most developers abandoned both so MS opening up their store to Win32 is an admission that UWP is a failure to try to resuscitate their store, which is also a failure. Better late than never but it's yet another "platform" for the Windows graveyard.
There is 2 good things about Win32 API: old games, less native plugin problem for game developers.
With game pass on Windows, I think MS store might have a shot in staying relevant.
