I have never been so disappointed in a video game as I am with this. I was a massive fan of both Enslaved and DmC, but I made it two hours into this before the sinking feeling of regret sank in. I rarely bounce off games and finish most, but this game just feels like a pretentious art-piece disguised as a video game. The puzzles are mind-numbingly boring to solve as Senua runs at a snail's pace, introducing the old "I know what to do but it just takes ages" syndrome. Worst of all, that's the meat of the game. The combat, while serviceable, is barely there.

I was so hyped for this game, love the developer and all the marketing material portrayed this game as a character action game with an interesting story.

I have never felt so let down by a piece of entertainment in my entire life.

Love this series, but my least favourite episodes as the series goes on is by far these side-content focused ones. Some shenanigans happen now and then but it's really boring to watch the same activity being done again and again.

These games are quite long so I'd personally prefer if you focused more on progressing the excellent story, especially considering it's only one episode per week. Waiting an entire week for a new episode feels real bad when the entire episode is just doing content we've seen before :(

This feels like a 2 star game compared to the Mass Effect trilogy, but a 3 star game if it was a new IP. I think the expectations for this heavily affected people's opinions.

I'm a big fan of ME, put 78 hours into this over a week. I went in expecting Mass Effect: Inquisition (which is what they've said it would be, several times) and got exactly what I expected. Better in a lot of ways. but obviously the technical shortcomings were terrible. The writing isn't worse than most other games out there, it's just worse than the previous ME games.

Then again, I played Witcher 3 two years ago and that instantly became my all-time favourite game, and that for sure blows this game out of the water in terms of writing, characters, story, world building etc. Only thing ME:A has on it is combat.

I can't really disagree with anything said in the review. I guess it's just a matter of how much the problems dragged it down for you. I thought the story, world, characters and combat were engaging and interesting enough to hook me, and I hope they'll make a sequel that hopefully irons out the technical issues.

It's weird seeing all the praise it's getting when I had the exact same feelings about 2014 Wolfenstein. I thought that game was absolutely superb and mixed old and new in a much better way than Doom, with superb gunplay and a great story. I didn't see much excitement on site about that game though.

I thought Doom was just Wolfenstein with less variety.

The air conditioner is suuuuuper noticeable, I wonder if they're ever going to sort that out?

Like every time any of them speak, it's accompanied by a very audible background noise.

I will say that the comparisons to phones don't make any sense at all. The competition of the phone market is other phones; the consoles still have PCs to compete with, ESPECIALLY if they go down this route. I get that people are intimidated by PC gaming, but why would you put down $300+ every 2-3 years when you could built a PC for $800 and probably out-perform the next 2-3 versions of the console? Not to mention significantly out-perform the current version. You can't just go out and buy a $1000 phone that will out-perform the current ones and be comparable to an iPhone 10, but you can do pretty much exactly that in this market.

Built a PC, download Steam, plug in an Xbox controller and open Big Picture mode. There, that's a Playstation 6 right there.
