This might have been the weakest episode so far, in terms of entertainment value anyway. I just don't enjoy watching Dan playing anything when he is in this kind of mood. Honestly, I was getting the same vibes from this that I was from the last few episodes of the Beast in the East Yakuza 0 series. Zero interest in what he is doing, zero interest in making an enjoyable episode and zero interest in respecting the time and effort of his fellow commanders. The contrast between Austin's playthrough of X-Com 2 War of the Chosen and this weeks episode of The Exquisite Corps was pretty stark.
I have to agree with a lot of the other comments, this seemed like a really strange pick for the "season finale". I can only imagine that because neither Abby or Vinny have played the first Evil Within, they didn't know what kind of games these are. I actually beat this a few days ago and I really enjoyed it, but with the exception of a few jump scares (that failed to land), it's really just a very good stealth action game, with some horror elements. It's also possible that with GOTY approaching fast, the opportunity to get hands on with a game that should come up in the discussions (but they wont play elsewhere) was just too tempting.
Regardless, a good series made even better by a fantastic intro. Keep up the good work !.
This was a fantastic stream and one of the best for a while. I have to say, I'm starting to suspect that Vinny might be secretly the best player in the crew now. He has clearly been doing some research and thinking through some of the best loadouts for close, medium and long range combat. Gotta say, I shared his pain when Brad dropped the Kar98K for a shotty. Love Abby's blood lust, but it needs a little tempering. Only engage enemies with fists, melee weapons or a pistol within a few seconds of landing or chances are you will get smoked. It was a great 2 mins of screen time though. It was like watching a combination of Harley Quinn and Frank Drebin.
Yeah, I've got to agree with some of the other comments on here. When 3 of the people on the stream are so disinterested in what they are seeing that they talk for 2 hours about literally anything except the game being played, maybe it's time to move on. This would have been a fine podcast, but watching it live, I gave up about 3/4 of the way through. Watching other people being bored isn't really great entertainment.
I love you guys, but this hasn't been one of your best weeks ( in terms of streams, the Beastcast was awesome). I'm sure you will bounce back though. Maybe try looking at some games from this decade that everyone hasn't already played to death.
The countdown notification only went up about an hour before the show went live. I've seen a few streams do this of late and last weeks actually had the wrong countdown time. It's something that could do to be improved.
I absolutely love this series, however I'm beginning to feel that the bombers are starting to run out of steam a little bit. Nobody except for Dan and Alex seem to have played for a week and only Abby seemed to have any real blood lust. Vinny, ever the professional, did his best to keep things upbeat, but the stream just felt a little flat to me. Patrick and Austin have managed to keep every episode they do feeling fresh and new, maybe because they do a shorter stream every day. I dunno, I love you guys and I love these streams (except for Dan looting houses for 20 mins) but maybe you need to shake the format up a little or take a total break for awhile.
