@cooljammer00: I was wondering the same thing, I don't have a pro and I just hope it runs well on an original PS4

According to Digital Foundry, it runs almost exactly the same framerate wise, just at 1080p instead of checkboard 4k.

@saturn5: follow the money

What is your intention here? I read every post before yours and while some disagreed with Jeff's score, I'd question how since I doubt any of us have played the game, they at least did it in a respectful way. It just seems super disrespectful and dismissive and I really cannot understand why.

Had to skip through the PewDiePie stuff.

You're welcome to your opinion but I find it hard to take it seriously when you use certain terms. Perhaps instead of taking this road you could elaborate on what specifically you didn't like? I doubt you'd get a response from the dudes but I'd certainly love to try to understand your point of view.

As far as all the talk about news organizations: news organizations get things wrong all the time. The difference here is, they admit it, issue a correction. There is a clear process there because they are human beings who make mistakes. Someone getting something wrong and then admitting it doesn't mean I'd write them off for eternity. Admitting to a mistake is pretty hard for me and I assume for a lot of other people.

In my opinion, it is important to be able to trust our media because they do a lot of good things. Investigative journalism is more important than ever in the current world climate. I really do wish they could be more interested in presenting facts in an easy to digest format for people. However, that's incredibly hard these days as most organizations are dictated by ratings.

If there are people interested in non-biased news sources not dictated by ratings, I do suggest non-profits. There are a ton that do great work and a lot of them survive almost solely on donations. From rich and not so rich peeps. I won't name them here but if anyone is interested in learning more, don't hesitate to hit me up.

I like this video game but I think this white saviour shit sucks, even if it is faithful to the original material that it was based upon.

Given it is faithful to the original material, and that it's made by Japanese developers who have no issues casting a Japanese as the main lead of a franchise (Ninja Gaiden), I think it's rather silly to accuse them of being racist towards their own people.

I theorize they chose him so they could give him all those cool beards.

I never insisted the developers/writers of Nioh were being "racist". I was merely insisting that playing into a white saviour story is a tiresome trope. Yes, white saviour tropes can contribute to a larger scale of poor cultural representation, which in turn can lead to a larger scale of systemic racism (hey Hollywood).

As an Asian myself, I'm definitely playing the race card, absolutely - but don't mistake my words as saying the developers/writers are racist by any means. I'm mostly just calling them boring.

Unless I'm confusing this game with Horizon I believe you can turn that off.

My copy arrived today so looking forward to getting started when I get home.

Super nit pick but I hope you can turn off the numbers popping up upon hits. I think showing a health bar for enemies and numbers is a bit superfluous.

We don't know much of anything about Scorpio. PS4 Pro is out next week.

PS4 Pro is about to be 3 times more powerful than the current Xbox One.

I'd love to know more about Scorpio but I just found your post a bit disingenuous with praising something that has no concrete info.

@opusofthemagnum:

Edit: it appears quoting doesn't work on iPad?

This game has some of the best humor ever in a jRPG. Whoever did the localization should be commended.

The battle system is fun, the silly puns are actually well done.

The plot is absolutely nonsensical so far and I'm not sure it'll get any better.

Considering I hate the mulitplayer and would have no friends to play this with co-op or in horde mode I cannot justify spending more than $20 on this (on PC, I never turn my Xbone on).

If there's a fan demand for this game then that is literally all it takes to justify its existence. I do think its a little eye roll inducing to say things like "do we really need another Uncharted?" but when Gears 4 comes around its all "let's do this!" However, that's all dependent on the person reviewing the game/talking about it.

To claim that you don't want subjective reviews means you don't want to come to Giant Bomb, in all honesty. This site was built on the personalities and opinions of the duders who work here and their fans enjoyment of that. If you want clinical, pandering reviews there are plenty of blogs and larger sites to cater to your needs. I could have told you before this game was announced that Jeff would be excited for this game. I just couldn't knowingly say that Gears 4 would be as stale and creatively bankrupt as it actually is. Then again, Gears 4 is perfectly representative of how Microsoft does their sequels...look at Halo 4 and it is pretty much the same blueprint as Gears 4.

Jeff simply likes Gears and doesn't like Uncharted. He's acknowledged that the Uncharted games are incredibly well polished games, just the gameplay/mechanics aren't his thing.

I certainly get it, I love the Uncharted games myself. And I really do admire Jeff. So there's something there where I would love people I admire to like the same things I do. But I also know that Jeff wouldn't be Jeff if he had different tastes and opinions. And frankly, I don't come to this site and watch the videos for my opinions to be regurgitated. That's just boring. I mean there's a reason why people love this site, every single one of the dudes are themselves. Gears is more his thing even if I agree with your larger point that it seems rather stale at this point.
