Matt and I end up playing video games a lot, and have been doing so for years, so we figured we'd make a youtube series Inspired by (i.e. totally ripping off) the Quick Look format. Videos every Monday! Let me know what you think!

This looks great. The effort put into the intro sold me, not to mention pretty excellent banter in light of it being your first video.

I guess my question is how does a youtube account with 1 upload only have the ability to put up a 30 minute video?

I know people that have been putting up clips for years and have thousands of subscribers and are still limited to just 15 minutes.

Good vid (so far, still watching). It's really making me want to pick this up, but I have so many other XBLA and Steam games to get to...

@I_smell: Yeah, the beginning is... bad, to put it mildly. I was nervous as hell. But I figure, nothing ventured nothing gained, right? I think we do get a bit better as it goes on? maybe a little? And hopefully we will as we make more videos. Neither one of us is used to performing.

Yes. A story or a setup, be it something simple like you are delivering pizza to his house. Also, no songs in the background, you two did well this time, that shit ruins it every time.

I disagree. You should play music from Deadly Premonition in the background.

It makes everything better.

Not bad for a first try, You have good quality audio which is a huge plus.
 
Make sure you have some general points prepared for stuff you want to talk about, and make sure you bring some energy to the video and/or make yourself entertaining. People love watching shit on youtube, but you have to be able to keep their interests for the duration of that video.

I think it's pretty cool but you guys should eat before this because you sound tired. Also, not to sound cliche but... you guys are gay so you should take advantage of that I mean... You don't see many videos of openly gay people playing vidya so I think you guys should do something different. Why not using that to your advantage? Do brainstorming. I say this because that intro sold me on the whole video lol. I hope this doesn't offend you, I'm just trying to give some advice.

It never got to the point where it was GOOD, but y'know, the first episode of everything sucks.

I think you should make it shorter. Giantbomb is allowed to have 40 minute Quick Looks because they've bin doing it for about 3 years and have a fanbase, but they're an outside case. If you're coming from nowhere then you need to make stuff that's easier to get into.

Please dont... Not every gay person is some flamboyant obnoxious stereotype you see in TV shows, and the ones that are become flat out annoying fast. Also not to be rude but if they were like that in there movies I dont think they would to well received. We have all played online and know the mentality of most gamers when it comes to sexual preferences.

To OP: Keep doing what your doing but maybe try to bring a little more energy to the table, make it fun for the viewers to watch. Im not subscribed yet but ill keep my eyes on you guys and when you improve ill sub.

Well, I was a bit skeptical at the whole rip-off the quick look thing as it has been tried a million times to be failed, but you guys didn't do too bad. I can see the nervousness of being in front of thousands, but you can do it with more practice. Just keep putting them out there, I doubt any one here at Giantbomb was amazing their first day.

I hear you guys on the too slow / too long, and FWIW I agree completely. In retrospect, all that beer we drank before and during to calm our nerves might have had too good of an effect... Next time we'll drink some coffee before hand. The next one, we'll scream the whole thing and talk like the micromachines guy (no no, jk jk).

On the play it up of the gayness: The intro and title of the show is enough. Part of the point is we are just dudes that happen to love each other and also video games. Frankly, I thought the rainbow jets was too much in the intro, but Matt suggested it in jest and it was so stupid it made me laugh, so it went in.
