Thanks Alex for my yearly dose of Assassin's Creed. :)
I'm kind of surprised the faces and animations look so much worse than the older AC's, though. It's something I noticed in Watch Dogs Legion as well. Might be due to development under pandemic conditions? Just look up some video's of cut-scenes in AC Unity (which was released 7 years ago): it looks almost like real people are talking to eachother, instead of some game characters..
Good to hear the enthusiasm on the new hardware. I'm curious about the '3D audio' side of things. How impressive is that on the PS5? It's something they've been raving about at Sony..
This presentation was even worse than EA's. The last UbiSoft game I've played is probably AC4, 7 or so years ago and every time I see their new line-up of games I never feel the urge to play them. They'll look like they've come rolling of the conveyor belt from the big Ubi factories.
A new Assassins Creed, Watch Dogs, Far Cry and a Battle Royale shooter. Holy shit, man. I yawned so damn hard that my jaw locked into place.
Maybe some people found the fiddling with the rat annoying, but I laughed my ass off. And this playthrough was way more tolerable than the one I watched Youtuber Jacksepticeye do, where he shouted at everything in the game. Stop shouting man, damn it.
This looks fun. But, man, do I hate the menu design.
Yeah, for real the menu and UI look straight out of an N64 game. The presentation on all that stuff looks weird compared to Doom 2016, but I guess it's a stylistic choice.
It looks like the websites I used to design in 2001. Except I would add some Photoshop bevel and emboss as well :)
But I'm fine with it now, it's a little corny, but everything about this game is corny. And I love it.
@lonelyspacepanda: Agreed. I've been a subscriber for many years and follower for even longer, but this 'Death Stranding'-bashing is getting tiresome tbh. And makes me dread the GOTY debates. The only one disagreeing is Brad, but he knows better then to fight against it, because he knows the rest of them allready made up their mind about the game.
I find it ironic, though. Finally a game that does something else then just shoot people in the head and they say it is boring and the combat is bad. Yea the combat isn't great, it's not meant to have great combat in there, because then you would be running to the enemies and emptying your weapons without thinking. Giant Bomb's general complaint about AAA games is that there's no innovation, yet they refuse to open their minds for anything different.
And the complaints about the story being dumb and not 'deep' enough: yea, no shit. Kojima wrote it, you know, the guy that also wrote MGS. Also: what is the title of the very first song that is played by the game? Yea. Exactly. He himself knows as well.
Sometimes it's good to relax your tense muscles, sit down, deliver some packages, take your time, enjoy the view and get yourself covered in bullshit. Death Stranding, ladies and gentlemen.
