I wouldn't be so quick to judge the results of this as being a cheap ploy in implementation, though it may be a cheap ploy in concept.  They could use this as an opportunity to write a  career mode story, and stylize blood, the  in the vain of Raging Bull. That's a movie with over the top blood and mature content that enhances the drama of the story.

We could get a good riff on the classic boxing story, where a simple man gets caught up in mob corruption, with the solid mechanics of fight night backing it up.  It's possibly a great way to shakeup the series.

Man try getting it a tad closer to SF and I'll be so down. As it is I can't see stumbling out of a bar late at night and tryingt to make it back up to the city.

I've had a long love affair with Tim Schafer going back to day of the tentacle. I think I've played every game he's worked on and have really came away feeling like I got a great work of fiction, not just a cool gaming experience.

If not him maybe Lorne Lanning back in the golden age of Oddworld. Again those games really had such a great quirky sense of storytelling and game play that they bore their way into my heart.

Every good nerd based forum has to have a fan art thread. If you've got some geeky video game related scribbles lying around post em!

I'll start off with my own interpretation of the moment when the fellowship of gamespot exiles founded giant bomb. The mighty paladin, Brad Shoemaker, the powerful sorcerer, Ryan Davis, the majestic super sayin, Vincent Caravella, and Jeff Gerstmann.

I mean, Double Fine is a studio created one of the most interesting cult studios in the industry right now. Anyone else out there who really wants to talk about brutal legend or even reminice about games into the far past of lucas arts?
