Day 4 - Songs

This list, like my last, is very situational and could fluctuate at any moment. Also, I really wanted to put Avenged Sevenfold's new single "Nightmare" on this list because I've been listening to it practically nonstop for 2 days but it probably just isn't right to add a song on here that early. So, just know that I LOVE that song, and you can listen to it on the official youtube page, or, hell I'll embed it here:

That said, let's get going on the official top ten of mine, with songs that are time tested and in my opinion, excellently excellent.

10. Audioslave - Like A Stone

This is one of the few songs that I love that I actually have the strong urge to sing along to while listening. Something about this song just hits all the right chords with me.

9. Mudvayne - A World So Cold

Much like my pick for number 10, this is one of those songs I love to sing along to. I'm not the world's biggest Mudvayne fan, but many of their songs are good, and this one is obviously my favorite.

8. Avenged Sevenfold - Beast and the Harlot

This song has all the parts to a classic metal song. Killer intro, killer solo(s), great vocals and meaningful lyrics. Epic.

7. Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song

Whenever this song comes on, I immediately crank the volume. One of the songs I remember the most from the 90s, and the first song that I bought as DLC in Rock Band.

6. Metallica - The Unforgiven II

Many people largely prefer the original Unforgiven song from the black album (which is an excellent song, too), but I think the second one sounds far more badass.

5. Stone Temple Pilots - Plush

My favorite song from STP. Not much else to say, just listen to it!

4. Pantera - Five Minutes Alone

This song always gets me pumped up. It's brutal, and the music video is also pretty cool.

3. Alice In Chains - Would?

I was glad to see more game soundtracks getting this game, as it is awesome. I'm a decent fan of Alice In Chains, but this song takes the cake by far. Most people's favorite Alice in Chains song I'm guessing. I LOVE the unplugged version, probably better than the studio one. Here it is:

2. Mushroomhead - Solitaire Unraveling

I may not be the largest Mushroomhead fan nowadays, but I still have immense amount of love for this song. It was their first big single when Universal Records backed them. Funny part about it is when I first saw this video on TV, I thought it was terrible. But, tastes change as you know, and when I later discovered and started loving this band, I found that the song I previously hated was now one of my favorite songs of all time.

1. Metallica - One

Without a doubt, in my opinion (of course), the best Metal song ever created. I doubt any song will ever be able to touch its excellence. Linking to the non music video version because the music video, ironically, is one of the stupidest ones I've ever seen and annoying.

There you have it. There are a lot of songs that I couldn't believe I cut from this list, but it had to be done.

As a bonus, I'll just say my current favorite band is Avenged Sevenfold

With that said, come back tomorrow when we start talkin' 'bout vidja games. Peace!

Day 3 - Music Albums

I'm gonna admit, this list could change daily, so instead of hammering in as a definitive list, I'm just gonna say... take this list with a grain of salt. Love all these albums though.

10. Nine Inch Nails - Broken

A short, almost lost album that not many people have probably heard of, but it had some of the most moody and brooding tracks I've ever heard, and it was a blast to listen to. One of my favorites from the album, Happiness In Slavery:

9. Stone Temple Pilots - Core

This band's bluesy take on alternative rock never gets old. I'm only a big fan of their first two CDs, though. After that, they changed. Here's my favorite off the album, Plush:

8. Evanescence - Origin

Evanescence is a huge band that I'm sure needs no introduction, but many people haven't even ever heard of this CD. This was their first CD before they hit it big, and it was their best one as far as I'm concerned. Very unique and different than anything else they've put out. I always enjoy this one:

7. Mushroomhead - XIII

These guys used to be my favorite band of all time. If you've been following me for a while, you might already know that. Over time though, my taste has changed. I still love this band, but they have fallen down my list as you can see, since this is my favorite album by them. That said, here's one of my favorites off the album:

6. Nirvana - Nevermind

This album was front to back genius when it was released as far as I'm concerned, and was one of the key albums I listened to while growing up. It still sounds amazing to this day. Here's Come As You Are off the album:

5. Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil

This is a band that I just recently got into, but fell in love with more than I ever thought I would. When I got this album, I listened to NOTHING but it for a solid month. I just couldn't get enough. Without a doubt, Beast and the Harlot is the most epic off this album:

4. Avenged Sevenfold - Self-Titled

I had trouble deciding which album to put ahead of the other on this list, but it came down to which CD had the most songs on it that I absolutely loved. While I definitely like almost every song on both albums, this one had an almost perfect lineup in my eyes, weakest being Gunslinger. My favorite though? Scream:

3. Korn - Self Titled

I used to be a huge fan of Korn, but they went on a different path musically as they went on, and well... that's all there is to say. This album, however, is one that I always love to pop in at any time, and bob my head to. What other song am I going to put here?

2. Metallica - Self-Titled (The Black Album)

Front to back excellency and one of the most memorable and successful albums of all time... doesn't really need an introduction. Love this song:

1. Stone Temple Pilots - Purple

The soundtrack of awesomeness. I'll fully admit that I don't love EVERY song on this album, but the ones that I do are some of my favorite songs of all time. Vasoline, Interstate Love Song, Silvergun Superman, and...

That's it for albums! Come back tomorrow where I struggle to come up with a top ten SONGS list!

Day 2 - TV Shows

I'm not the biggest fan of modern TV, and my list reflects that. They just don't make shows like most of these anymore.

10. All in the Family

Carroll O'Connor portrayal of the the old fashioned, know it all, loud mouthed bigot was both skillful and lovable, making this show contemporary and legendary.

9. Full House

Yeah, I like this show, SO WHAT? lol. Many people favorited Family Matters, but I just happened to watch a whole lot more Full House back in the day, and I still find it enjoyable to watch today. Here's a clip of Full House where Steve Urkel cameoed, just to break your mind:

8. The Wonder Years

What can I say, I'm a big kid at heart, and this show was all about growing up and the trials and tribulations of getting through it. I loved the way it was presented with the narrations, much like how The Sandlot was put together. Here's the opening, which is what everyone that has seen the show probably remembers the most when it came on.

7. The Cosby Show

For years, I never gave this show a chance for whatever reason, but one day I actually sat down and watched a few episodes and fell in love with it. Bill Cosby is hilarious, and here is one of my all time favorite scenes from the show:

6. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Some may laugh at this show, because they think it's just some stupid kids cartoon, but I think it's a masterfully done animated series. All I could find is this dopey AMV on youtube with Papa Roach music over it, most everything else has been taken down..

5. I'm With Busey

Gary Busey is absolutely insane... and so is this show. It's freakin' hilarious. Here's a clip of one of my favorite episodes:

4. Doug

Yeah, 90s nicktoons were amazing. This was definitely my favorite one. I loved most of em, but this is the one I watched the most. Again, no clips for this one, so jam to some Killer Tofu!

3. The Price Is Right

This is one of those shows that you just wanted to watch every morning. I have all my fond memories from when Bob Barker was the host, but Drew Carey is alright too. Here's a hilarious clip from the show:

2. SpongeBob SquarePants

The best cartoon ever made. Still going, and for good reason. It's hilarious! Oh yeah, more hard to find footage. Here's some stupid video but it shows a funny part at least. Lolz...

Screw all the haters, number 1 is...

1. Roseanne

I've seen probably every episode of this show 100 times over. The realism, the delivery, the actors, the jokes... oh so perfect. Love this show, and doubt I'll ever get sick of it. Here's part 1 of one of my favorite episodes:

That's all she wrote. Come back tomorrow to see my top 10 music albums.

Peace!

Day 1 - Movies

As a ground rule for all these lists, this is solely 100% my opinion. I'm not trying to say this is the definitive top 10 (anything) list, nor am I saying I'm right. These are just my personal favorites.

With that out of the way, here are my top 10 favorite movies. To get on this list, it had to be a movie that I can and have watched over and over, and could enjoy even if I popped in right now. Let's get going...

10. The Sandlot

This is just one of the classic movies that has a special "thing" about it. The way the narration carries over it, and the actors look and act, just makes it one of those feel good movies that I always go back to from my childhood.

9. What About Bob?

The movie that solidified Bill Murray as a genius for me. Ghostbusters, Shmostbusters. What About Bob? was the real deal for me, and made me die laughing, and still does, over and over again.

8. Dumb and Dumber

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were just incredible in this movie. Masterwork in acting, absolutely hilarious delivery, and many memorable parts.

7. The Cable Guy

What? Jim Carrey was the man. Or... is it Ricky Ricardo?

6. Falling Down

What, not a comedy? This movie is the shit, and Michael Douglas doesn't take any from anybody.

5. School of Rock

What? I'll be honest: I'm not a fan of Jack Black, but the way he acts in this movie is just amusing, and I find myself watching this one from time to time.

4. Christmas Vacation

This movie makes me sad that you just don't see any chevy chase movies anymore... or good ones at least. Fuckin' epic:

3. Home Alone

Anyone that grew up in the 80s and 90s should know this movie. John Hughes you will be missed. Here's the only decent clip I could find, and it's a user montage with music over it. Sorry, they must be sticklers about footage of this movie:

2. Anchorman

Will Ferrell is very hit and miss with me, but when he's on, he hits a home run. This movie is both ridiculously ridiculous, and legendary. for a movie not really all that old, that's something. Here's some amusing clips of Steve Carell:

and without further ado, the movie that I enjoy the most, and also makes me laugh the most...

1. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Many people I know have not seen this movie, which is a shame because the dynamics between Steve Martin and John Candy are just absolutely hilarious and genius. Even if you don't like Steve Martin (the main reason most people didn't want to watch this movie), he's amazing in this movie. Trust me, do yourself a favor and watch this one if you like comedies at all.

So there you have it. Yeah, mostly comedies... but what can I say, I'm a goofy guy and I love to laugh.

Come back tomorrow to see my top 10 favorite TV shows!

Later.

My Top 10 Mega Man Games (Original Series Only)

I was asked recently how I thought the new Mega Man games stacked up to the old ones. Since I'm only a fan of the original series games, so here's a list of my favorites and a little bit why I like (or dislike) said game. Here goes:

10. Mega Man 8

No Caption Provided

Something just doesn't feel......right about this one. I'll let this dopey picture express my concerns.

9. Mega Man 7

This game can be sorta fun at times, but my absolutely BIGGEST gripe about this game is... why does Mega Man have to be so far over to the right on the screen? Why program our minds to know that he's in a certain spot for years, then fucking change it? Not only that, it's too far to the edge and I always find myself getting into danger because of it. I can't find any decent pictures that depict this, but when I played it, I definitely noticed. Oh, and yeah, the levels aren't that good.

8. Mega Man 6

No Caption Provided

There was just nothing remarkable about this game. Not the music. Not the bosses. Not only these things but why do I have to use rush to enhance Mega Man's abilities. Having to go into the menu every time, watch practically a cutscene of him transforming, then come out to use it for 1/2 a second, then go back in the menu and switch... ugh so tedious. Definitely the black sheep of the 8-bit series to me.

7. Mega Man 3

No Caption Provided
Now before you throw me to the sharks, let me explain myself. I love this game. Great bosses, music, and level design.... up until you get to Wily's Castle. I've never beaten this game before because of this level in question. You are expected to fly across a large open gap on rush jet. That's not the problem at all. The problem lies in... it uses all your rush jet power, and if you die just after (which I do), it checkpoints BEFORE that part and you have no power to progress. You have to commit suicide and start the level over. What bullshit.

6. Mega Man 5

No Caption Provided
Now here we go. Now we're getting into the ones I really like. Lots of people disreguard 5 as a classic game, but it had excellent level design and one of the best Wily castles in the classic series history. Coupled with it being a bit longer than other MM games and just being fun, we have a winner here.

5. Mega Man 9

No Caption Provided
We all know how surprised I was at this game coming out at all and blah blah, but I'm going to focus on what I like about it now. Absolutely epic music (yeah I have to mention that about most Mega Man games because that's my favorite part of them), some great level design, and a great way to show that these type of games (classic platformers) can still be made by the right group of people (Hello, Sonic Team?). It was great fan service, but not quite as original and exciting to play as..

4. Mega Man 10

No Caption Provided
This game, despite being a "rehash" as some would say of a concept and series coined 20+ years ago, felt extremely fresh and extremely unique. The levels had elements never before seen in any other Mega Man game, the music had a very unique and eerie presence to it for the most part (which I love), and it had bar none the best Wily castle stages in any Mega Man game. Mega Man 11 please.

3. Mega Man 1

No Caption Provided
Oh man, do I love the music in this one. Absolutely classic, possibly the best in the entire series for me (well.... it's close). The levels are all excellent, albeit a bit devious, especially since I have yet to beat this one (I can't beat the final stage!) I will one day beat this game, dammit.

2. Mega Man 4

No Caption Provided
The mus.....ok you get the picture. This was the Mega Man game that I actually owned when I was a little kid. I remember asking my mom for (the number one game on this list) for my birthday, and I recieved this game instead. I wasn't disappointed at all though, as I played this one over and over. I just loved the look and feel of the levels in this one, and thought the plot twist at the end was creative considering these games really didn't have a story back then.

1. Mega Man 2

No Caption Provided
Surprised at my number 1? Nah, you shouldn't be. This game nailed it all and is the defining game of the series, and one that I still go back to all the time to this day. I did a "Legends" video on it, beaten it dozens of times on hard (or difficult as it's called in game, lolz), and I just have a blast playing it. OHYEAHANDTHEMUSICISGOODKTHXBAI!

There you have it.
Bye bye!

Video Blog - Scalped Edition

First blog I've done since the hair transformation. Sorry, I have no idea what the humming/buzzing noise in the BG is. Probably from my crappy PC tower. There's really no point to this video, but hey whatever, I'm just gonna upload it. Enjoy... or not.  (Also, Windows Movie Maker doesn't know how to not include bits of the video I edited out so ENJOY THE RAW FOOTAGE!
