Depands on your taste in games. I personally think Ico is one of the best games of all time, though some say the same for Nier. But really, play Ico. It's as unique as it gets :)
Clearly there are many non professional reviewers that, for some reason, somehow get their reviews on metacritic. Still, the site summarises many reviews in a cool way so you can have a general idea of the main pros and cons of a certain game and stuff like that.
The level design is absolutely masterful, but the atmosphere is really frightening, to be honest. It's genius, but god how it's messing with your brain.
sometimes Collectibles are about artificialy increasing replay value, when they have no real use ingame(Uncharted 2). The collectibles in Mass effect 3 actualy have some use, yet not actualy needed, giving you the illusion of depth. It fits either when it is done subtly (The glyphs in Journey, for example), or when it's completly lunatic like in donkey kong 64. It's hard to break old habits though :)
