Hey, just wanted to report the same thing here. Using Chrome browser on my laptop, windows 10. Same as the user above, no adblock or anything. I first noticed it earlier today while trying to watch last weeks UPF but I clicked around other videos and same result. At the time, Alex's live stream of Fight for NY did work, but only live. As of right now, no videos will play for me at all.

Hey, your reply to my message has made me discover another bug. When I put my cursor on the bell icon in the top right corner of the site to make notifications appear, the dropdown window appears for half a second before disappearing and prompting a full width-long red banner to appear on which is written "there was a problem displaying recent messages, try again later". This feels related to my original bug.

I was doing some investigation into my own setup and while I don't have an adblocker installed on my browser, I do have a piHole server which i always forget about.

Anyway, I guess at some point videos started being served from production-cmp.isgprivacy.cbsi.com? This was blacklisted automatically on PiHole. I whitelisted it and now I don't seem to have any issues.

I think this might've helped me as well? Disabling ublock in windows didn't seem to work as easily as it did on OSX, but I don't know whether it was me adding that domain to the whitelist or that it was a caching issue that went away when I opened chrome dev tools, but seems to be working now on both platforms.

I've had the same issue. Up until very recently it would take up to 10 seconds for the player to properly load, after which it would play OK. As of today, nothing.

Disabling ublock origin has fixed the issue for me, though.

I found this today too, and found it a bit more of an issue because you don't want to be pausing and unpausing a film & 40s since you need to keep it in sync with a film.

Has the bitrate of some videos suddenly shot up? I ask because I'm watching the latest Mass Alex and suddenly my fans are all whirring at full blast and my battery is draining away, while the (Chrome, OSX) video tab is chomping 110% CPU.

Seems to be the same on both progressive and HTML5 options, and I've tried switching to HD to no avail.

If it has increased is there a meaningful way to control the quality we stream at? The Low/High/HD/Auto options have always felt a little opaque to me.

Evening all.

I'm here mostly to say that the reliability of the site has improved quite a bit since the relaunch; things like watch progress and skipping to most relevant episode of a show when clicking into a show are behaving well.

There's a lot of requests throughout this thread for sure, if there was one thing I'd like the most it would be better navigation to related episodes from episode pages themselves, e.g. being able to click on the next episode in a show after watching one, or related episodes which aren't in a listed show (like garfield with gerstmann).

@rorie Hello. I'm having this exact thing happen during the GBE playdate right now, on Windows and OSX. Playing OK on homepage, asking for an upgrade on /chat.

I'm pretty certain it's due to blocking third party cookies, as it starts working normally when I unblock them.

Looks like it's not getting as far as loading video-embed.js

@rorie Likewise between a desktop and a laptop, though in my case both using Chrome (one on OSX, the other Windows 10).

I couldn't say with authority whether it dropped during a switch between machines or not as I swap between them all the time. Typically I've not noticed a specific problem there.

This one is a little non-specific so let me know what I can do to help debug.

I've noticed that lately the progress on watched videos has been vanishing much sooner than I'd expect on some videos, in the order of a week or two, while some videos which I watched several months ago still have their progress marked. I switch between laptop and desktop for viewing so this feature is an important one for me.

I'm not sure what rules you apply to decide when to clear a progress marker. An example is Steal My Sunshine 05 and 06 which I'm reasonably sure I only watched once and they were released in August, but while I was typing this the latest Unprofessional Fridays just lost its progress bar and that's only been up a couple of days. All of them will have been near the end. You may have better records than me as to exactly when I watched these things.

I'm watching Steal My Sunshine 02 right now and I know I left that half way through a couple of weeks ago but had to guess and re-seek it myself today.

For those who might still be encountering this, I've found that `giantbomb-vh.akamaihd.net` resolves differently on my mac vs my PC, even on the same connection.

On my mac I get a nearby IP that works just fine, on my PC I get placed in US-West (I live in England).

Overriding the IP lookup for `giantbomb-vh.akamaihd.net` helped me out.
