Borderlands "Double-Pack" Arrives April 6th, is Baffling

According to Joystiq, 2K Games will be releasing a GOTY-styled "double pack" of Borderlands and its first two DLC installments. No, you didn't read that wrong and it isn't a typo; the package will contain the core game, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot exclusively, opting for some unknowable reason to drop The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, the third and most worthy of Borderlands' DLC. The pack will retail for $19.99.

To further confuse the issue, PS3 owners will not be offered the new bundle despite all included DLC packs being available over PSN. In my eyes, this might mean one thing and definitely means another:

A) There just might be more Borderlands DLC coming.
B) There's something in the water over at 2K Games.

I guess we can be excited over the possibility of more Borderlands content, but I wouldn't go dropping twenty bones on the pack, as I'm fairly certain an all-inclusive edition will be released once the game's DLC has been exhausted.

Thanks for reading,
End_Boss.

It was probably more 2K's decision then Gearbox's.

Didn't Gearbox say at one point that they are going to have a total of 7 DLCs for Borderlands?

You're right. I mistakenly attributed the move to Gearbox. Original post now fixed.

The game itself alone is $50 right now. What the hell is 2K thinking? I would understand $40 for the game and the 2 add-ons, but $20? That's a steal.

The OP has made a mistake. I read the Joystiq article, and it is ONLY THE TWO DLC PACKS that are included on the disc. NOT THE MAIN GAME.

Considering I just bought this a few weeks ago for $50, this is a real piss-off getting the whole deal for $20, hell I might as well just buy the pack and give the extra copy to a friend to get the DLC.

I wonder why it's not coming for PS3. Maybe the sales were too low to justify it? I dunno.

Clearly it's not coming to PS3 because it's not a "tier-1" platform. Valve's influence is spreading.

The $20 disc is just the DLC, not the full game and the DLC. Think of it like the Episodes From Liberty City disc that came out. Its mostly for the users that still don't have their consoles connected to the internet.

Seems their current stance is that they are not working on more DLC - but 2k mentioned further DLC in a rcent earnings call.

I suspect at least one more DLC then they can put out another double pack on disc and finally a GOTY with all 4 DLC before the end of the year.  Fallout style.

@DivineCC:  Thanks for clarifying, by just reading what the OP wrote, he says it includes both the game and DLC

They said that they would like to make more DLC, but are only going to do it if General Knox sells well I believe.

Also wait, so the full game is included? Plus the first 2 dlc? For $20? Thats fucking crazy, theres no way. The game is still $40-50 retail right now, so that would be the most retarded move ever.

@cypher89:  its not going to be the "whole deal" its going to be like the game of the year edition of Fallout 3 which gives you a separate CD with all of the DLC that you can put on your harddrive.

As several people have mentioned: It is just the two DLC packs for $20, not the full game as well.  Fallout 3, GTA IV and several other titles have released just the DLC at retail and none have offered the content to the PS3.  So, it isn't just Borderlands.

I've seen on the Gamestop "incoming games" registry thing that there's at LEAST two more Borderlands DLCs planned.

Eh... I just want a DLC price drop. I'm not into the game enough to spend full price on Knoxx, nor even look twice at the other two (regardless of how inexpensive they might be by comparison).

Why would they leave out the only dlc that's worth buying for Borderlands? Wouldn't it sell better if you included the best of the borderlands dlc?

This doesn't bother me since I already own Knoxx but it seems strange.

@MrKlorox: I doubt it will have the full game on the disc, it will most likely require you to install or swap discs when you go to the new areas because they are just travel points.

Does anyone know if  the DLC double pack will work with the Steam version of Borderlands?
