@theht: I did not miss the point, it's simply that you are wrong on legal grounds. As in, there is no legal ground for a case here. It is legal to follow a stranger. It is not legal to assault someone, but there is no evidence to suggest Zimmerman did that. Witnesses supported Zimmerman's account for self-defense.

Innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent.

Manslaughter I imagine; evidence wasn't strong though either way and guy doesn't seem to be a vindictive monster or anything; but he still killed a dude for no particular reason. Said dude might not have been a saint but being an idiot isn't exactly cause for getting shot.

yep.

No particular reason = getting beaten in the face while screaming for your life, got it.

@theht: Um, chase? There is no law against following someone. Nor is illegal to carry a firearm. Multiple witnesses who saw the fight said it was Trayvon on top punching Zimmerman in the face until the gunshot. There has been no evidence that Trayvon had any bodily injuries besides the gunshot wound and you can bet the prosecution would've presented it if the evidence existed.

No legal repercussions, huh? Besides the nationally-televised and incredibly damaging trial. All for naught, as there was no case in the first place and this should not have gone to trial.

Hahaha, oh Giant Bomb community. You have no idea about how the law works, do you?

For once my faith in humanity was restored. There was no evidence that Zimmerman committed any crime in accordance with Florida law, the whole trial was a circus organised by race baiters and useful idiots. It would've been one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in American history if they convicted this clearly innocent man.

@norusdog: Ryan's father confirmed it was natural causes. I imagine it was a complication brought on by his sleep apnoea and agitated by days of partying / the heatwave / taking strong prescription medication, as confirmed by his Twitter. It also can't have helped that he was dangerously overweight, drank a lot of alcohol and smoked a lot of cigarettes.

I wonder if Ryan was trying to curb his bad lifestyle choices near the end. I know he had a mask for sleeping. It has made me re-evaluate a little my own health, as experiencing and seeing the effects of someone's death to their close friends and family... I think this is one of the few good things you can take from this tragedy. Take good care of yourself for the sake of everyone around you.

Still in here and reading comments.

@felixculpa: Excellent. I should go watch those videos sometime, not Ryan-related (I think?) but everyone says they're good content.

It's a shame the GIF version of this seems to be gone. There was also another great moment at the start of this quick look [Wii Party] where Ryan kind of dances in place. And who can forget, "where'd you hide it Vinny?"

Probably late on this one.

I'm a big fan of Smash Bros, and I visit the biggest forum for the series on the internet. I also make movesets for characters who I'd enjoy seeing in the games, even if they have no chance. Well, I didn't realise until after Ryan's death his favorite Pokémon was Koffing. Personally, I love all poison-types, but Weezing is my favourite. It just so happens that I recently made a Koffing set for Smash Bros. only a couple of months ago.

This moveset is now dedicated to you, Ryan. I know you weren't a fan of these games, but I'd like to think you'd appreciate this dumb, overly-analytical moveset and how it now bares your name.

Edit: For clarification, I know nearly everyone will have no idea what this set constitutes, even those who are big Smash fans may not be totally aware of how Smash sets work. That was almost my point, though. I wanted to do something for Ryan that no one else on Giant Bomb could do. Making a set for Ryan would be pretty tacky, but given I had Ryan's favorite Pokémon already made, that seemed a perfect opportunity.

I have to as well give huge credit where it's due for amazing taste in Pokémon, as with damn near everything else in his life.

I teared up again today big time seeing Pachter on GameTrailers and listening to Drew / Vinny on this bombcast. It's impossibly difficult to imagine Giant Bomb without Ryan, but what's truly sad is that the world is worse off without Ryan. He was so selfless, altruistic, kind... no one will ever replace him. The more I think about it the more it feels like I've lost a close friend of many years.

Thank you all for the comments and bomb crew for having the courage to go through with the bombcast. I'm fully on-board for whatever comes next on this site, to live up to Ryan's memory is going to be a challenge.

That really got me about him influencing the way you do things, because now I recall, back when I first got into Giant Bomb when I was about 15, it did influence the way I talked about games. Hell I even started using the word "duder" as much as I could to try and be like the Giant Bomb crew, as lame as it sounds. Their blunt, straight-forward way of talking about video games influenced me heavily and I had forgotten it completely. Ryan's particularly verbose way of speaking, it's infectious.

It's all a bit too real, honestly. Thanks for reminding me of this particular memory.
