Dragon age origins is not really like WOW.
Sure, you have a hotbar at the bottom and HP, and Mana, along with cool-down for skills.
The cool-down is pretty mandatory and is used in a lot of games (thus to avoid spell spamming) and I prefer it to the old cue up spells and rest then cast, it makes it too tedious.

Basically (in the harder difficulty) you see an enemy, you pause and you select a skill and target for your party members, then you unpause. After the party does the skills you want, you pause again, and repeat.

Its not really like WOW because it has a lot of micromanagement (you manage a party along with the equipment and skills), and the whole battle system revolves around controlling a party and using them (usually in paused tactical control) to defeat enemies. Compared to WOW its slower.

The only things which I can think of that make combat the same in WOW are the skill-using or spell-casting through the hotbar, but that's just standard.

Wait.... WHAT?! that's coming out for the PS3?!
Isn't it for the ps2 (and it is another name for Persona 4)?

after 4 times though bro? seriously it aint worth it anymore.  "
Yea, that 's what I said too.
my first ones were all under warrenty (was like 70$ or so for 1 year) and they all died in under the year, so I kept on getting new ones every time (from warranty)
then my last one broke and I decided to fix it my way, and it worked for the time being, then it broke entirety.

But if shin megami tensei 4 comes out for the ps3 (revamped graphics and more content) that would be nice, although it's sad that I know exactly how it will turn out.

" By the time the gap is closed I think microsoft will come out with a new console, if not before "

I sincerely doubt that. Microsoft will likely try to come as close as they can to matching Sony's promised decade-long console cycle.

As for the PS3 catching up to the 360, I think it absolutely is and will continue to do so. I just wish Sony would put some serious time into PSN; that thing needs work. "
I also strongly agree with that comment. The PS3 PSN, and online gaming is somewhat of a letdown - undercooked I might add.
Sure, like Xbox Live it has potential, but the truth is XBL is executed far better. The biggest advantage over XBL the PSN has is free online gaming.

Its got a better machmaking system, a better organized content management system, and simply more content. I think another good feature is the whole gamercard idea. Sure, trophies are nice, but honestly, how many people care about getting trophies when it doesn't really stand out?
The gamercard has the gamerscore, the PSN doesnt have a gamercard really.

About machmaking, I (from experiance) found it much faster to get a game in COD4 on the 360 than on the PS3, and in general the gaming experience was better (skill matching courtesy of trueskill (some MS system))
What would be nice if Sony implemented a kind of gamercard, where it would show the trophies, the score (the player level thingy), and games played. Also would be nice if they had a better layout for their content, it seems that its very crude and unrefined how the content is displayed.

PSN needs a lot of polishing as it stands. At it's current state it doesnt come close to taking on XBL.
As it stands, XBL is 17 million strong (as of january 2009, I would estimate it is probably in the 18-18.5M mark now)
What is strange is that PSN has 29Million + members, more than 10 million more than XBL.

Really if PSN was to include more exclusive content, a better layout and most importantly a better matchmaking system with better player feedback and skill matching, then it could take on the giant.

"Yes, the PS3 can overheat.  My 60 gig YLOD'ed (Sony's equivalent of RROD) a couple of months ago, so I had to take apart and fix it (it works fine now).

As for the dust, I would recommend the follwing:
  • vacuum - I do this about once a week when I vacuum my room.  It won't get rid of all the dust, but it helps
  • swiffer - I use the dust-attracting swiffer cloths to wipe it down
  • dust cover - I can never remember to do this, but it's been recommended to me that I cover the PS3 with something (when it's not on) to keep dust from settling on it (I'm guessing a t-shirt or something).
Hope that helps, and welcome to the fold :) PSN: MyOwnApprentice "
So you just took it apart and cleaned out the dust on the heatsink?
I hope the slim doesnt YLOD on me soon XD, I have a bad rep with electronics.
And I think I will cover it with something.
Sidenote: why don't they make consoles have air filters that you can slide out and clean like my PC case does =(

"Migration here have anything to do with going south ?  xD Valkyria Chronicles, play it dude   "

Yes, I would have to agree with that.
I went to EB and looked for a copy and was lucky to find one last one.
Apperantly noone trades it in and the game isnt in being made anymore.

Regardless, I am really enjoying the game.

Also, I looked at Cross Edge, but IDK, there arent many videos/reviews out there for the game.

The [rpg] games I really cant wait for would be Ressonance of Fare (End of Ethernity for english title I think), FF13 and Versus13, and really I can't think of anymore that are coming out for the PS3 in the next bit, any ideas?

Random last question:

How is online play for popular PS3 games (say COD:MW (and sequel))?
are there a lot of people playing?

The problem with the clip on triggers is that they don't really solve the issue. The issue lies with the controller mapping itself; its somewhat hard for me to wrap my head around not using triggers to shoot.

Well after having my PS3 for (looks at calendar) 3 days now, I have to say that I am now getting accustomed to the PS3 controls. But this brings me to the biggest issue that I found...

The triggers (L2 and R2 I think they are called - lol I still have A, B, X, Y going through my head).
I was playing BF: Bad Company, and why oh why did they NOT use the triggers for firing?
Sure, I would have no problem if there was a way to change the control scheme to that, but the fact is there isn't a way to do so.
I prefer the controls something like R2 to be Fire (trigger) L2 to be use grenade (Trigger), the Triangle button to switch weapon, circle to use item, and the d-pad to swap equipped item.

But mostly it's the triggers that annoy me.
I take it that if the alternate settings are not there in the game options, that they do not exist, and there is no alternate way (like through the main XMB(cross media bar PS home screen thingy?) ) to change this?

While I am on that topic, anyone know what the MW2 controls will be like?
Thanks again!

@ copycatzen
That was pure lolz.
"your hand may be already deformed by using the 360 so much"
And I will change the avatar.

@ Reuben
Tried that, the x-clamps are super secure. I did that about a half a year ago when I changed the dried up thermal compound on the CPU/GPU.
I think the error is with one of the SMT components (possibly one of the ICs).
The AV/Error is the wierdest problem, almost as if the cables are not detected at all, regardless of the cable (they are tested and working).

That's allright tho, I bought Valkyria Chronicles and MGS4 yestarday at my EB games (damn Valkyria is hard to get) for about 50$ total, so time to try them out.

Thanks guys for the suggestions!
I will definitely try the fabric softner trick and  wipe it down.
About the fixing of the xbox360, I tried. I fixed the X-clamp issue when I was applying new thermal compound, I don't know why it redrings.
Funny thing is it gives me 2 errors now; the RRoD, and the AV error (the one that tells you that the AV cable is not plugged in). The RRoD is
wonky, it sometimes happens and then other times it works fine, but the problem that killed it is the AV Error (4 rings red), according to websites
the error corresponds to the cable not being plugged in, but the error that I have doesnt match the description, it gives me the error regardless.
I even switched the AV cable (along with other cables) that worked at my friends house.
I think the problem is with the GPU, and the hardware failure also points to that. Regardless, I think I will I just write it off.
Oh well, Thanks again for the suggestions for games and tips! I really appreciate the help!

PS: the game that I really wanted to finish - Star Ocean: TLH, is apparently being ported to the PS3 with more content and characters in Q1/10!
Now I can finally let the 360 rest in piece.

Thanks again!

PSS: any news on a persona for the PS3? XD
