My Top 10 of 2010-2019

ForceCommander does Let's Plays on Youtube on an almost daily basis and streams on Twitch on the regular.

A lot of the games on this list were recorded and can be found on the Youtube and Twitch channels. If the german language doesn't intimidate you and want to know more about the games and myself, do check it out!

We are about to enter the 20s and looking back at the last ten years, we got a lot of really good video games. I sat down and tried to create my 10 favorite games I have played in this period.

I will try to keep this list a bit shorter and to the point. If you wish to learn more, feel free to take a look at my Youtube video!

10 - Overwatch

Blizzard's attempt at a team-based first person shooter was a success. Loveable characters, charming maps and enjoyable gameplay made me give Overwatch the Game of the Year Award for 2015 and 2016!

09 - Minecraft

Minecraft had such a huge impact on video games. Its a game that offers so much freedom and fascinates people to this day. Sadly with the introduction of Biomes my interest in the game faded but I still estimate to have played around a thousand hours.

08 - Hitman 1 & Hitman 2 (2016 & 2018)

Both games made the stealth genre through its "hidden in plain sight" system interesting to me. Beautiful locations as well as a wide array of options to execute your tasks also elevate them above other games of this kind.

07 - RimWorld

The best mix of survival, base building and colonist management. Nothing is better than constructing your own colony, defending yourself from the harshness of the planet (and the whims of the storyteller), only then for Kevin to go bonkers and punch an Antigrain Warhead.

06 - NBA2k Franchise

After a rough (and short) start with NBA2k10, I played ever game in the series since. I have invested easily 200 hours into each of them, with NBA2k17 at the top with ~1,200 hours.

05 - Hearthstone

While the Online and Competitve modes are a hot mess in more than one way, the game's presentation as well as the Roguelike-ish "Dungeon Run" singleplayer modus are still great.

04 - Nier Automata

While the gameplay is rather simple, the story is a breath-taking experience and the soundtrack is one of the best I have ever heard.

03 - World of Warcraft (Mist of Pandaria - Legion)

Even though the main game was released in 2004/2005, charm alone couldn't keep me playing for longer periods of time. Only after I joined at the end of Mist of Pandaria I got fully hooked. Let us hope that after the catastrophe called Battle for Azeroth that Blizzard can return to its former glory.

02 - Yakuza Zero

One of the best games ever. It offers a good setting, an interesting and serious story paired with hilarious and wacky side quests and minigames, great characters as well as an enjoyable fighting system.

01 - Persona 5

Persona 5 managed to evolve once more after Persona 4 already made huge steps forward from Persona 3.

A stylish game with a soundtrack I am listening to regularly. The turn-based fights are sped up immensely thanks to a well thought-out controller layout. The story is surprisingly dark and offers quite a few unexpected situations. The day to day activities improved thanks to the thieves' guild, which made planning through a bit more manageable, as well as the Social Links being more useful and interesting.

They looked at the good and the bad and just improved all of it.
