What happens with VR I think will be vastly more interesting than the new NX, I love me some Nintendo, but the Wii U was uninspired after what I genuinely thought, and still do, was a very innovative product in the Wii. It captured the imagination of people, as well it should've, even if you didn't have to do the gestures, doing them still worked. Anyways, I didn't really read the article to be honest, I'll wait till E3 to let Nintendo tell me what the hell they are actually doing, with that sick new mascot.
I really don't want to buy a wii u just to play mario maker, especially with the nintendo nx on the horizon... but on another level, I want to. Damn it.
There are a handful of other solid-ass games too--Super Mario 3D Land is fantastic, Mario Kart 8 is a lot of fun if you still have some Mario Kart itch (plus the soundtrack is a joy to listen to), Bayonetta 2 (bundled with 1) is a lot of stupid fun, Smash Bros. is more Smash Bros. if you're into that, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a solid, vibrant platformer, Wind Waker HD is an especially nice package if you missed out on playing the original, and Splatoon's (from what I've heard and seen because I don't own it) quite fun too.
Bayonetta and Super Mario Land would be easy buys, the rest I'd definitely skip. I guess the one thing about the Wii U is that it's still pretty cheap, especially if I buy it used.

Funny, this is my first COD in...oh, maybe 5 years, and even with that much span it doesn't feel like much has changed. Yes even though I can climb up walls and send a thwaft of bees/nanothingamabobs at people. Admittedly my problem with games in general is I tend to just want to power through them, rather than get good at them, so a lot of the nuance is lost on me. Gone are the days where I would set things on the hardest difficulty. I enjoy the game as much as I can with this way of thinking, and the co-op can be fun, funner than I've ever found it in something like Halo, which I thought kinda broke the game.
a mistake would be to merely match the capabilities of the ps4 and xb1. though knowing nintendo's history that's a mistake that's likely to happen. im also sure the portability has something to do with wanting to be backwards compatible with the wii u.
