All I was fed for years was to check my white privilege, accept that protests include destroying buildings for days and inciting riots. The political party I associate with was participating in a vacuum where "triggers, mansplaining, safe spaces, xenophobes, racist, sexist, free everything..." were tossed around. That vacuum extended to the internet where everyone agreed with each other. People were just absorbing this marginalization. Suddenly my political party is surprised when it backfires in every possible way.
.....cut to today, and MSNBC is back to the victim-bating and making broad excuses for half the voters in the country. There was a protest vote that the media doesn't seem keen to do an autopsy on. It's all about uneducated white men. Meanwhile the government just became one-sided and Republican politicians are reminding each other that it could go away in four years, so be reasonable going forward. I have a real hard time feeling sorry for Democrats who had their coronation four years ago and decided that everyone either felt like them or became ostracized. It just made people pull out of the conversation and wait.
MSNBC and Huffpo are so staunchly liberal for the Clintons they won't even talk about how we got here, when the party leadership did everything it could to push Bernie Sanders out. The US doesn't like lumping groups together, and than does so based on race anyway.
People in the United States are constantly reminded that they are victims, or they create victims. Nobody has an intact family unit at the top of their priorities. None of these candidates discussed the very basic family unit and how important that is.
I'm a Democrat that pays my taxes and treats everyone equal whether they are in a wheelchair or Armenian. I'm fine with how this turned out.
