@unastrike I'm not sure if anyone else noticed it but I wanted to let you know I appreciate you dropping the 'Nobody Wins' when the stats screen popped up so the guy who does all the stats could get the stats.
@picky_bugger: If I had been the only one home when this was happening I would have yelled about the minimap at the screen. Watching that dot inch closer and closer was nerve wracking.
This looks really cool. It fulfills a niche I've always wanted out of Monster Hunter games where you're going out and gathering ingredients that you then cook to serve to guests!
I really don't get why Nintendo keeps shooting themselves in the foot. It seems like their art, music, and story teams are often on point, but the rest of the process just goes to shit. How could anyone think these systems were fun? What about cards was a good idea? Just make a normal mario RPG game with FUN combat where you level up. How hard is this? Why do they keep trying to diminish the joy that comes with improving and tailoring your characters so much?
@cripplor: The one difference is that there is a feeling that skill was required to get where you were in an MMO (WoW particularly for me). This type of 'numbers go up' game doesn't appeal to me in the same vein because there's no visible improvement in my play as an individual and as part of a team to accomplish something.
