Hopping back on the CRPG horse.

Amazing box art, terribly confusing name.

So, yeah. I've tried to get into CRPGs over the past few years, with varying rates of success. Most recently, I went on a shopping spree after GOG's deal with Atari, and bought all of the Infinity Engine titles, which include Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, and Planescape Torment. I also bought Neverwinter Nights DIAMOND (caps added for emphasis, cuz yo, Diamond), The Witcher, Ultima Underworld 1 & 2, Fallout 2 and Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, which has the best/worst title of a CRPG I think I've ever heard. Well, maybe not as bad as Bad Blood. Actually, what do I know. I like a band called Bad Religion.

Wish me luck. -Gregg

Also, I went a little link-crazy. I apologize if that bothers anyone who reads this.

Well I hoped you enjoyed your life up until now, because it's nothing but playing those games from this point on.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Good Luck.

@loopy_101: Awesome, you managed to post my favorite song off that album.

Good luck. When you play Fallout look out for rope!

How does rope aid you, if you don't mind me asking?

Although I've only played Fallout 1, from my experience, it's the only way you can enter certain major areas.

These guys? I believe someone did!

  But nobody mentioned these guys....

....and that makes me sad. :(

I heartily recommend Planescape Torment. I tried to get back into Arcanum recently. And I failed.

@GreggD: Anytime. I wish I had some additions for your list, but unless you want to go back to ancient Ultimas, Bard's Tale, and text games, then you've already covered the best ground.

If it were me, I'd play Baldur's 1, 2, then Torment first. Just to be sure I hit the best of the list.

Deus Ex is around the corner, yanno.

You say that like I don't already own the game on disc. ;)

EDIT: Whoa, holy shit. You're talking about the new one. I'm obviously not thinking very clearly tonight.
