My 2012 Game of the Year List

List items

  • When Far cry 2 was out I didn’t pay much attention to it. For lack of a better term I really didn’t care for it. But holy crap Far cry 3, there is no game that lets me feel more badass then this game! Hunting animals, fighting modern day pirates, setting fields of weed on fire with a flame thrower with skrillex playing in the background, this game is top notch fun. Easily my favorite moments of playing games all year if not all time; not to mention the story with Vass being one of the most crazy villains I’ve ever seen I feel almost bad for the recording studio when they were recording the audio. They were probably scared of the Voice actor. Far Cry 3 wins my Game Of The Year and It deserves it.

  • GO PLAY THIS GAME. No I mean really if you have a vita. Play this game. I had a hell of a time with it when it was on the PS2 and now that I can take it on the go? Even better; the characters are quirky in their own special way the story is still fantastic. The new content is streamlined and is awesome. If you didn’t play the original you wouldn’t even know this stuff wasn’t in the game in the first place. This is my vita game of the year I spend 75 well played hours on this and I loved every second of it.

  • Though I didn’t actually play this game I watched someone else play it. I wasn’t boggled down by controls or solving puzzles of the adventure game. This allowed me to grow closer to the story and characters then I would have been able to by playing it. The story of The Walking Dead through its five episodes its impactful to its core. Even the minor characters had an impact when they died. Bringing your choices throughout the game TellTell did a great job with this game. Well done

  • Now Mass Effect 3, even with the amount of grief this game got some I agree with some I don’t It still was an enjoyable experience with great game play and characters I grew together with. It ended the trilogy with a high note. They tired Bioware, and even if I am the only one that thinks it. I thought the ending meant “even with all the choices you made through life, whether right or wrong it still boils down to the same thing. Do you stick to your morals? Die a hero? Or do you take the chance to become something greater?” The Ending of Mass Effect 3 wasn’t perfect but it didn’t deserve so much heat.

  • Passing the torch from Bungie to 343 showed something. Halo is awesome no matter what. I loved it, what more do you want?

  • Assassins Creed 3.. What can I say? With glitches, a lot of them In mind. And the ending of the Desmond Saga feeling like an ending as same as the rest of the games prior; Assassins Creed 3 was a game I enjoyed but couldn’t absolutely love.

  • I wasn’t big on fighting games until this year. Now I play them often. With the story being much like a visual novel I was kind of put off on the thought of having to read a lot. But it goes to show that this game. Changed my perspective on visual novels and 2D fighters alike; this gets my number seven spot for a great story and great and almost balanced Fighting game.

  • With its great tone and badass music Hotline Miami made me question how much sanity I had on how much I was enjoying it.

  • Gravity rush can’t go without fault that it is a gimmicky vita game. But that isn’t a down fall. With a good story, great game play Gravity Rush had me playing for a good long time on my Vita.

  • Sound shapes is the kind of game you love without reason. Mixing music into the simple game play made an enjoyable experience and some of the most memorable levels created this year I’m still being brought back by the ever growing user made levels.

  • My 2011-2012 Game of the Year

A puzzle plat former consisting of blocks, a tower that can change at anytime, Ice physics, and more. This game made me want to throw my controller at a wall more than once with some of the hardest puzzles I’ve ever faced. And yet I still was playing it over a year after it came out trying to get every last achievement. (By the way. I did)
