I feel like mods have replaced some of what cheats had done.

Definitely true for PC, less true for consoles (some games have mod support but they're the exception).

I can't see myself getting much practical use out of cheat codes, and I'm a little embarrassed by the times I used them to beat games I couldn't've otherwise, but I do miss them. And they were EVERYWHERE too. It would be nice to see them a little more often, even if game design has changed so much in the last 20-odd years.

I have. I got Terraria for the PS3 years ago after having it for the PC too (I know, I know). Definitely have with rereleases that barely qualify as "remasters." I recently the got Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? rerelease for the Switch after originally playing it in '09. Super underrated game, by the way, and not nearly as unfair as people let on.

Really thinking about getting A Hat In Time for the Switch after Platinuming it on PS4. Why? Because the PS4 / XBONE versions got absolutely SHAFTED when it came to the DLCs. Oh well. I wouldn't mind playing it again anyway.

I really enjoy Zelda from most of the games. It might be an unpopular opinion here, but my favorite Zelda i probably the one from Skyward Sword. I just really like how they made her feel like a teenager. My second favorite is probably Breath of the Wild Zelda. She's honestly the main character of the game, despite you not seeing much of her.

BOTW Zelda's pretty cool. I really like OoT Zelda though - she had been written as such an archetypical damsel in distress during the 2D era, but then the first 3D game comes out and after you flash forward past Ganondorf's apocalyptic rise to power, she managed to avoid being captured and became a badass warrior / musician. Yeah, the game kinda falters on that front after she reveals herself, but it's neat how much she helps Zelda out.

@shindig: TW as G-Man could actually be really interesting. I met the guy like 6 years ago at a screening and he really is that strange (e.g. during Q&A he got upset with a woman for saying The Room came out "more than ten years ago" when it had "actually been 12 years" and ignored the rest of her question). Not sure how easy it would be for people to work with him, but he might be able to make it work.

Hopes: That my power will come back on. I’d also like to see more about possible Diamond / Pearl remakes.

Predictions: Repackaging of older games from any big franchise. The games are great but Nintendo’s gotten predictable on this front.

Can I just group up Tarkovsky's more sci fi-ish films (Solaris, Stalker, etc.) and go with that? Because that's what I'd go with.

Otherwise, very tough call. Only the first two Alien films were good. Same with Terminator. Star Wars has been mixed since the beginning. Star Trek movies can vary wildly in quality. I seem to be the only guy who loved Blade Runner but wasn't impressed by the sequel.

Turns out Sci Fi Movie franchises aren't generally good.

Yep.

Never got into G4's dudebro, chauvinist, trying-way-to-hard aesthetic when I was a kid (which is surprising because I was a little shit back then). Can't say I feel compelled to get into it now either.

I hope some of the people you mentioned get out clean. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind seeing it crater. It's just so... obnoxious.

Definitely more fridge than freezer, mostly because my freezer is TINY. I'd like to eat even more fresh food though.

My first thought was Danny Devito as Fargoth in Morrowind. Really had no idea how many of you already picked him but I shouldn't be surprised.

Although he was way overused for a few years there, I could see Benedict Cumberbatch as G Man in Half-Life. Or Cate Blanchett (or similarly tall blonde actresses) as The Joy in Snake Eater.

@topcyclist: Ah, that's fair. I was always into more deliberately paced films, so I guess that was never an issue for me. Still, I think a lot of people are open to that style of filmmaking (can't count the number of times I've argued with Dad over whether a movie like The Godfather could be made today), and people trashing Avatar is news to me. Either way, definitely agree people might be better off starting with a faster paced miniseries - it's asking a lot less for someone who's never explored the genre.
