Well if the points themselves don't mean anything to you, some PS3 games DO have their own set of in game achievements, like Ratchet and Clank, and some games have trophies, such as Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, and some older games like Warhawk and Uncharted.
I think you should get a PS3, because not only is LittleBigPlanet awesome, you really need to get your hands on Metal Gear Solid 4, reguardless of any of your past experience with the series. I wasn't too fond of the series, always wanted to get into them but never really could, but MGS4 blew me away. Also, theres a bunch of good games that are now only 30 bucks like Resistance that you mentioned you wanted to play.
In my opinion, no, most games on the PS3 aren't on the 360. I was actually thinking about this last night and I can name more good PS3 exclusives than i can name 360 ones. Here's an example I'll do right now without even thinking more than a few seconds on each entry:
PS3:
Resistance
Resistance 2 Warhawk Ratchet and Clank Uncharted Heavenly Sword
LittleBigPlanet Metal Gear Solid 4
360: Halo 3
Fable 2
Ninja Gaiden 2
Gears 2
Err.. that's all that comes to mind outside of stuff that I couldn't give two craps about like Forza. The 360 is definitely worthy of owning though due to its superior online service and almost always better multiplatform games and games that your PC can't run.
I guess I'll end this novel of a comment, but bottom line, get a PS3, and get to play everything you could desire by owning the trifecta of gaming consoles. :)
Honestly, I would hold off on getting a PS3. While MGS4 and LittleBIGPlanet are great games, I just don't think they're worth buying a new system for basically one or two games.
I disagree with Eightbit, the PS3 is not worth it. If there is only a few games that YOU want on it, than there really is no point. And I would add to that 360 list: Mass Effect, Viva Pinata, Banjo Kazzoie, Rock Band 2(So Far), Lost Oddysey, Tales of Vesperia, Braid, Left 4 Dead, Crackdown, and more, just to name a few ; )
I agree with EightBitWarrior, although he cut off a LOT of great games on the 360 that aren't available on the PS3. Although to have a full gaming experience, you need both.
