Cascading attacks resolving in delayed succession from multiple enemies : You see this sometimes in Arkham Asylum-inspired combat systems. You block an enemy's attack and immediately afterwards another guy hits you, and then another and so on. It feels like you're always blocking/countering and rarely going on the offensive. Final Fantasy 7 Remake has this and I also just replayed Mad Max and noticed it there big time.

Fighting games where the AI reads your inputs and counters instantly : He somehow caught my poke from half screen and turned it into a full combo but then just stood there while I swept him 8 times in a row. Ok, game.

Shooters where the enemies all simultaneously reacquire targets and focus you down : You're confidently running around, ignoring the low-level grunt enemies in the area when they all decide to turn and shoot you at the same time. Somehow 10 enemies each plinking you for 10% of your health manage to buzz you down in less than a second and now you're staring at the loading screen. Wtf was that?

So, I guess they're turning Omega to build up to a Moxley rematch for the title and win? I kind of love and hate that at the same time. It makes sense because there are realistically only 3 guys that can hold that title right now: Jericho, Moxley and Omega. But I also don't want to boo or feel like I'm supposed to boo Omega.

And Vickie's new music is hilarious. It's so dumb!

AEW beat last week's Smackdown in both the teenager and 18-34 demographics for both men and women.

I think my expectations for that FTR match were just way too high. It was stil very, very good but, like I was expecting a top 5 of the year contender.

The Orange Cassidy match was great. Imagine if there had been a crowd there, how nuts they would have been going.

I still can't believe that Orange Cassidy and Jericho did the lowest-rated segment in Dynamite history last week. That just doesn't make sense.

Ya know, there's gonna be another Mania, another Double or Nothing, it's not a big deal the buildings had no fans. When Brodie Lee and Matt hardy debuted--whatever, 90 days of hype to come out to no reaction, it's fine.

But for FTR to do a run-in debut, finally kicking off a feud that's been built-up for 3 years, and you only hear like 30 people cheering fucking sucks. Obviously it was the correct decision to pull the trigger now because who knows how long it will be otherwise, but damn, you only get 1 debut pop.

Imagine breaking your ass like Fenix did and then having to go do a ladder match 3 days later, oof. SCU and Sabian really Miz'd that one up.

So glad to have Dynamite back. I loved the street fight and the Brodie/Moxley stuff.

There was something about watching late 40's wrestlers brawling backstage under fluorescent light and hearing Schiavone say, "Damascus has emerged from the ice!" that made me feel like I was watching classic WCW--in a good way.

I think Ikoria is the best expansion they've released this rotation so far. I found Eldraine's theme very boring and while Theros had strong cards and a good theme, I felt it lacked a bit in fun. So far, I absolutely love the mutate and companion mechanics; they're super fun to build decks around.

I'm kind of shocked at how good the companion cards appear to be. Before launch, it seemed like maybe 1 or 2 of them would see play but almost all of them are on the ladder with the exception of Lutri, Obosh, and Zirda. The Gyruda deck is especially terrifying, it seems like every time I watch a pro player stream either he or the chat is crying for a ban already.

The card I had my eye on the most pre-release was Snapdax, though I haven't been able to put together a mutate deck for him with a good win rate so far. I've never been much of a midrange player and I think the big problem is I can't figure out a good curve, especially since a lot of the mutate cards are way overloaded at 4 mana. Also, I'm not entirely sure I want to commit more wildcards to stuff like Cubwarden and Dirge Bat which seem like they would be good for the deck, but seem like average cards overall and wouldn't be a good investment.

The other deck I've been focusing on is Mardu humans. Kudro, General's Enforcer, and Dire Tactics are all really solid, especially Dire Tactics. General's Enforcer + Tajic is a cool combo, very annoying for the opponent to deal with.

What have you all been playing and what do you think of the new mechanics and set overall?
