Artemis_D's Most Wanted Sequels

  • Anyone who knows anything about me knows that I am a gigantic Shenmue fanboy. A lot of folk might consider the game boring and simple, but this series has always held a special place in my heart. The world, the characters, the story - while the game did many things but mastered none of them, there was just a certain unexplainable charm to Shenmue. The second game in the series sort of left us hanging with a lot of unanswered questions and loose ends that needed tying up. If I recall, the series was setup to be a trilogy, and the lack of a third game frustrates those that love the series the most. While I know it'll never happen, I still hold on hope that we'll see the games store wrapped up in some form. I'd even settle for a direct to video film or a comic book at this point.

  • I loved the Dreamcast. It came out during a time when companies like SEGA and Capcom were willing to put it all on the line and try something new and different. A prime example of this was the Power Stone series.

Now I know what you're thinking, and yes I realize the game is incredibly similar to your beloved Smash Brothers. Don't get me wrong, I love Smash Brothers as much as the next guy, but Power Stone just brought something special to the table. With its quirky and original cast of wacky characters, out of this world special moves and battles - there was just so much fun to be had with this one. I was really excited when I heard the news about Power Stone Collections, but then I remembered that I have no interest in the PSP at all.

Capcom is sitting on a really good thing here, and this game almost seems like it belongs on the XBox360. I hope they finally come to their senses and finally give this franchise the sequel it deserves.

  • Ah, Jade Empire...

In a time where most RPG's were fantasy/sword and sorcery type games, Jade Empire brought something fresh and different to the genre (at least in my opinion). I loved the KOTOR games, but the Star Wars setting never really did anything. As someone who has always had an interest in Ancient China fiction, Jade Empire was right up my alley.

If you're a fan of BioWare rpg's and ancient China, then this is a must play.

  • Yes, I know about Chaos Bleeds. I also happen to know it was made by a completely different developer AND I also happen to know that it was TERRIBLE! While I loved the spirit of Chaos Bleeds, the gamplay just was not there. The Collective developed original was a much better game. With fast and furious action packed fights, stellar gameplay and fully voiced characters from the show, this game was an instant classic for a hardcore Buffy fan like myself.

I'd really love to see a direct sequel to this game in particular, developed by The Collective. Hell, it doesn't even have to be a Buffy title. I would just really love to see this engine and style of gameplay return. Everything just felt so right with this game. I remember a game they were developing called Harker, which was supposed to run off the same engine and feature the same gameplay, but sadly was canned. I was heartbroken by the news, considering I was really excited to see this come back. It's kind of sad to see such potential being wasted on games like GI Joe: Rise of Cobra.

  • I loved Parasite Eve back in the day. I also loved Parasite Eve II, even though a lot of the hardcore fans weren't so into it. I feel like there is more that can be done with this story, and it's a shame we only got two games out of it. Aya Brea one of few very strong and interesting female characters in gaming and she needs to return!

I heard there might be a third game in the form of a PSP or mobile release in Japan...

    Meh.

Bring Parasite Eve to my PS3 or 360!
