I don't get the whole "It's got it's own identity" thing. It's a bunch of nonsense backgrounds and annoying, repetitive noises (as seen in several other games) with normal-ass tetris floating in the middle of it. Don't tell me the different modes make it special. Just about every tetris game has different modes. Hell, Vinny had a tetris tower jutting out of his crotch like 8 years ago. These don't seem especially crazy. Don't get me wrong, I thought this was cool as hell at first. Now it just feels like bringing a gameboy to a pretentious New Age club.
It can be frustrating watching some of this, but I can't blame him. I only know what's up because I've played through this game 3 or 4 times. I remember making all of the same mistakes on my first run through. I'd die in all the same spots, miss all the same doors, fumble around with all the weapons and abilities. This game takes a while to get use to. Probably worse when you only play it once a week.
On a side note: This hacking mini game is totally new and bizarre to me. Why did they change it from the old "match the text" mini game?
I'm all for going off on tangents about totally random crap but for fuck sake! The whole thing culminating in talk about wrestling, WHICH HAS IT'S OWN FUCKING SHOW, and quickly buttoning through the entire end of the game makes this whole series feel like a waste of time. This is why I never finished watching the Exquisite Corps. Because Dan has the attention span of a 5 year old. It's like fast forwarding through the end of a movie. A real shitty movie, sure, but, when I've already invested this much time into it. I'd like to see it through. When @vinny gets back I think he should force them to go back and finish the game again as punishment. Without save states. Then make him play NES Snake's Revenge...nah, that might be too cruel.
I know it's not always easy to stay completely invested in long running series like this but please try to keep in mind that you are taking peoples money for this content. And while some portion of your audience does enjoy wrestling, you are potentially alienating the portion that does not. Nothing personal, that's just business.
World Famous Heid's? Watertown native. Spent a lot of time in Syracuse area, including Liverpool. Never heard of the place. Syracuse friends never mentioned it either. Will have to look for it. Nick Tahou, on the other hand. Now that's famous.
