Congratulations Dan and all the best! You will be sorely missed, and I can't help but think my chances of getting an aneurysm from listening to the beastcast in the future have gone way down... 🙃

Looks like it's just a "placeholder" price for now.

Will echo the other Toronto comments here to say the best way to experience our wonderful city is eat your way through it. Toronto has top-notch food from just about every culture. If it's your thing, I would definitely suggest making a list of good restaurants to visit and try to cross off as many as you can. There are plenty of good recommendations in this topic so far.

Save for CN Tower and Casa Loma there aren't really many "must-see" tourist attractions here. Walking through areas like Kensington Market, Harbourfront, St. Lawrence Market, Queen West (if you're interested in our take on German food I recommend Otto's Bierhalle - probably the only place I've had a decent schweinshaxe in the city), and downtown in general gives a better feel for the city than anything else. Assuming you're into video games, I'd also recommend trying Get Well one night for games and drinks. Otherwise, the day trip to Niagara Falls is well worth your time.

As for your Northern Michigan leg, you'll probably want to visit Traverse City and/or Mackinaw Island. Be advised though, North America might be a bit chilly at the end of May compared to Germany!

I'm about 6 episodes in now. I think it's very easy to see how much the creators understand and love MST3K with this reboot. I really love what they did with it and I'm very happy it's back.

Highlights for me:

  • Patton Oswalt is perfect as the foil to Felicia Day. They're really great as the mads on the show.
  • Most of the bits are great and even the ones that fall flat leave you feeling charmed because of how sort of budget and slapped together the whole show felt. I honestly didn't think they'd be able to hit this feeling but I think they nailed it.
  • Jonah and the Robots: A+ banter and commentary.
  • Great job calling back old jokes in a subtle way with props or little side gags. Again, they manage to do this in just the right way that they aren't bashing you over the head with it.

I could go on, but really I'm just very happy with the show and the possibility of it continuing into the future.

I have a few things that are frustrating me:

  • Dislike movement of military/scout units not being able to move onto hills, over rivers, etc. unless they have 2 movement to spare.
  • Warmongerer penalties are really unbalanced. I got surprise DOW'd by my ally in a joint war and was denounced for defending myself against it? Doesn't seem right.
  • Diplomacy doesn't make a lot of sense to me right now. I find that Civs by default seem to hate you which makes making allies an uphill battle.
  • I find the game pushes you to go for a wide civ a bit too much. As a Tall Civ 5 player (almost exclusively) this is a new skillset I need to learn on top of trying to learn all the intricacies of Civ 6 in general.
  • I wish the game did a better job of helping you understand districting bonuses. That said, the community is doing a really great job pulling this information together

All of that said, I think the game is really great and a lot of my hangups are just things I need to get over/learn how to work with in the new game. Would like to see diplomacy and war get a bit of an overhaul though, just to make things feel more "fair".

Trying to play more Witcher 3 to get through the expansion stuff that came out this year. Gotta believe it'll come up in "Best game of 2015 in 2016" discussions -- who knows, maybe someone makes a push for the DLC to be on the proper GOTY list (seeing that around a lot lately).

I had a consistent 30fps at 1440p ultra (i5/970/16GB ram) before the patch, now I'm getting all sorts of stutters and issues. Will continue from here on out on the Xbone because the game is so damn good but am seriously bummed out about the PC issues. Definitely a shame.

FWIW, I hear that Gears 4 is much more optimized on PC. Seems like MS's play anywhere system will have to be considered on a case-by-case basis.
