@vicious17: Yeah, the PC version (the Steam one, not the original janky PC version from 2007) has everything from all versions. I believe the extra stuff unlocks once you beat the game once.

This series is great and all, but why would they go with a sequel when neither of them played the original? They keep wondering what's happening and why and making assumptions when everything that's happening is directly explained by the first game. It's not helped by Abby's frustrating tendency to purposefully ignore and skip any story or information the game gives her.

Hey, so the graphics are nice and all, but is Layers of Fear considered good, at all, by people that play horror games?

It's like if you took Amnesia: The Dark Descent and took out all actual gameplay and exploration and puzzle solving, so all you have left is a linear game with a worse written story ("nightmare fuel") where you walk towards the only unlocked door at any given time, and sometimes scary book golems and rotten fruit jump scare you.

I mean, sure, there are worse horror games on Steam, like the ones that are just Slender ripoffs using the default house interior that comes with Unity and they slap together a model of a spooky ghost girl who screams in your face if she finds you or whatever. I get that Layers of Fear is trying something with its art allusions and Picture of Dorian Gray thing, but the gameplay seems incredibly shallow and even though it technically has a story, it's kinda bad and told to you very indirectly.

fwiw, I think a lot of horror games seem stupid and pointless, and I thought a lottttt of games Patrick played for Spookin' With Scoops were made by hacks, so I'm probably not easy to please when it comes to horror.

I played this game just the other week and I really didn't care for it. There's not much to it other than what you see in this video and the final "puzzle" is complete BS. I ended up looking at a FAQ and even then I was still wtf'ing.

It's also the only game to ever give me motion sickness. Something about the way the camera moved when trying to open (the hundreds and hundreds of) drawers combined with the odd mouse movement got me pretty nauseous by the end. The only other game related thing to ever do that to me was the GB quicklook of "The Conduit 2". Looking at the comments it seems I wasn't the only one.
