Can I just say, after about three years of following CAG and their Black Friday thread, I think I'm making the complete jump to Giant Bomb for everything. As evidenced by this thread, it is so much more constructive and civil here. There it's just 140 pages of people asking if the deals will be online or if the store in their town will be busy-and those are some of the passable questions. (On an unrelated note, it's impossible to listen to and relate to their podcast now, it's just three middle aged fathers talking about their kids and not playing anything new.)

@jakob187: Absolutely. Walmart is the only store around me with BF deals (lucky that they're almost always the best, Forza Horizon for 10 bucks last year was dope) and it's fun to actually do something dumb once a year.

Also is Target actually selling Into the Nexus for 10 dollars MORE than the retail price? Holy crap.

Mostly, I do my game shopping on Steam but might have to get over to Walmart for the Blizzard deals. I would like to play the starting Panda zone and Hots has been on my sales radar for some time.

@daedelus: Target usually has a good stock of games. Walmart...is a fucking madhouse. I mean, literally, shit pulled off shelves and laying in the middle of the goddamn floor. If I could think of a similar thing, it would be kind of like the L.A. Riots. There is no order, just pure chaos.

There's something both beautiful (if chaos is your kind of thing) and disheartening (if watching the degradation of society if your kind of thing) about Walmart on Black Friday.

To be honest, this thing gets more and more difficult to put together every year. There is way more shit to type out, way less that is made clear in the ads for video games specifically, so many things. Between that and the fact that my life now is far more busy than it previously was (I didn't have my own place, a girlfriend, and lots of shit to do back then like Magic The Gathering and Heroclix), I just don't have a whole lot of time to do this thing very well.

This may be my last year for it. I don't know. In all honesty, I'm going to be putting up another blog pretty soon, but it's going to be a rather scathing one...as this trend of people opening up on Thanksgiving Day is fucking sickening.

By "updated," I mean I took at least 15 minutes of pacing back and forth after reading that Walmart...WALMART...of all fucking places...

...is going to be the ONLY PLACE that has Grand Theft Auto V on sale this Black Friday. The shock within my system was goddamn paralyzing. How EVERY SINGLE OTHER PLACE dropped the ball on that shit is beyond me.

Moreover, I also spent a lot of time wading through Best Buy and Target's ads trying to figure a lot of shit out, like...what platforms things are on...or whether or not they were even worth posting.

Long story short: Target is fucking worthless this year. A goddamn travesty, as that place has ALWAYS been the frontrunner for the off-kilter deal that no one else had but everyone wanted as well as generally being a little cheaper. Walmart FUCKING BROUGHT IT this year. Those guys nailed it on the head. HAVE FUN AT THE RIOT ON THAT ONE!

I'll never understand people that actually go outside for Black Friday when you can just order online or wait for Cyber Monday. Crazy I tell ya.

So far, Payday 2 for $20 and Battlefield 4 for $30 sound like steals. Target will have Batman: Arkham Origins for $35 and ACIV for $60(plus free $20 GC) but that could be PM' ed there too?

Honestly, I think the best opportunity would be Target, as they usually have some off-the-wall shit compared to other stores. In years past, they were the only ones that had deals on any of the Assassins Creed games until Best Buy finally picked up on it with Revelations. Therefore, I would say THAT is going to be the best bet.

However, this isn't Assassin's Creed we're talking about. This is GTA 5. If that fucker was put on sale for $39.99 anywhere, that place would be a goddamn riot zone beyond what you already see on Black Friday. It would be fucking mayhem til the AM...or in the AM...or whatever.

Point is this: we'll see what Target does because they are usually the leaders for this kind of shit.

ALSO...just curious, but has anyone seen a massive change in Best Buy lately? I hadn't gone to our local store in at least a year, and when I walked in, I'm pretty sure that I found a phone/tablet store. It took me for-fucking-ever to find the CDs and DVDs, even video games. All of those take up about...MAYBE...six aisles in the store at this point, while the majority is other shit.

I mention this because I'm predicting that you won't see much in terms of sales from Best Buy when it comes to video games. I could be wrong about that, but shit looked dismal as fuck in there.

I'm hoping for a really good deal on a 3DS XL this year. I'm buying one for my wife (...and me...) along with the new Zelda and Professor Layton. I probably would have bought the $169.99 version via Amazon a couple weeks ago, but I didn't realize until the day after that they had that "lightning deal."

Also, I want to find a cheap Galaxy phone, but that's not really gaming related. :)

Other than that, I really can't afford to buy a Vita, as well, but a $150 deal could maybe get me to buy one. I kind of regret not buying the AC Liberations combo for $180 last year.

Anyways, I've updated this with the weak listing from Toys 'R' Us. It's about as worthwhile to read as a Stephanie Meyers novel submerged in horse urine. Not to say they don't have good deals, but the way they listed the game sales and the lack of effort they seemed to go through in order to secure solid deals beyond their own storewide shit is just disappointing.

I have it on good authority that the full Target ads will be available sometime this week. Those guys kill it every Black Friday, so I'm curious to see what crazy shit they are going to be doing.

So far at Gamestop, going to get Battlefield 4 (and upgrade it to the PS4 version for $10 extra bucks) and an extra year of PS+. Can't beat $80 after tax for that.

I am really hoping to get a PS3 that day/weekend ... Toys R Us is running the same deal. My hope is to get the console w/ Batman and LoU then pick up Ni No Kuni, Tales of Xilia, and Ico/Shadow of the Colossus. I have to use up 11 work days before 12/31 or lose them, so I plan on hitting the PS3 hard, as well as my Steam and Xbox 360 backlogs.
