Long-Term Subscriber Bonus

I just realized that I will probably never have the cajones  to drop 50 dollars at once on a subscription service for a website (I'm cheap).     So here I am spending 60 dollars a year supporting the GiantBomb community. What does this mean? It means, gentlemen and ladies, that I am a supreme member of this site. A "Platinum" member, if you will. NOT ONLY do I support GiantBomb with more money yearly than these "Gold" members, I am also doubling their revenue by (tolerating) viewing the fine advertisements on this site. What can the Gold Members say? Sure they're giving Whiskey Media a short term boost with their 50 dollar drops, but in the long run who is it who's going to be giving you guys all that fun stuff to play with?? (All of us) Me.

Okay that's enough of that.

What I would like to know is do you guys feel there should be some more incentive by subscribing for prolonged periods of time? Something for the yearly gold and monthly silver (platinum) members who sign up for the second year, perhaps?  I'm talking about something more and exciting than what brand new subscribers would be receiving for their first run around the Sun. I think it'd be a pretty neat business strategy to try out since this is kind of a big experiment that Whiskey Media is running here.

As someone who stands to benefit i say hells yes.
From the perspective of someone who say finds this site in 2 years and then subscribes I'd feel a little gipped.
The only way I see that those conflicting viewpoints can be reconciled is to just have like different medals for long term subscribers and maybe a different t-shirt or something,  like so long as it's not content it should work out ok.

Monthly and Yearly are the only things that really make sense tbh.

Yeah I hear that loud an clear. I was mainly looking at the more "physical" aspect of being a long-term subscriber. As they joked about in the BLLSL next year we could get a "tote."

I guess I'm also worried that I'll be put to the wayside because I don't want to pitch in 50 dollars on the spot even though I'll be around for a LONG time.

This kinda relates to this topic, sorta:

Does anyone know if we will still get the "Member since 2010" T-shirt if we subscribe for the yearly plan before 2011? (Or was that like a limited thing?)

Dare I say it?... TWO MEDALS.

Anyways, on XBL they have a number on your profile for how many years you have subscribed. Something like that would be neat.

Monthly is slightly more than annual as an incentive to make an annual contribution, which provides them with more stability and predictability on their end so their financial situation isn't constantly in flux. Also, while you may be paying slightly more per year, it doesn't mean they're receiving much more. Every payment requires a transaction fee on their end to whoever their payment processor is and that typically includes a set fee plus an additional three to twelve percent of the total transaction.

Haha, didn't think about that. It'd be a cool little thing to add.

@JJWeatherman:
I haven't heard anything along those lines. I'd HOPE it's like that.
