Maybe the quality, quantity and context of the repetitive tasks effects how shitty they feel. Just cus you can put the same label on some things doesn't make them identical.
So repetitive tasks in Stardew Valley are ok, but repetitive tasks in The Division are bad. Repetitive tasks in Diablo are ok, but repetitive tasks in Destiny are bad.
There's plenty of QLs I only watch the first 10-20 minutes of. It's not like a film, they don't have a dramatic arc to with an exciting conclusion that you need to see all of. I guess they tend to check out different modes and things towards the end, but if that interests you just skip ahead. There is very little difference between a short QL and one you don't watch all of.
Just have genres as concepts and let people tag 'em. Having a separate "genres" field with a fixed, or manually curated set of accepted genres is madness with how fluid these things are.
