My Player "Retirement"

After playing about 7-8 seasons of NBA 2K11 My Player, I wondered what happens at the end... just out of curiosity (I usually don't like to check out "spoilers" for games).  With the way the game is designed, it isn't that easy to just sim to the end of games via a calendar.  You have to pause the game mid-match and tell the game to sim to the end of it.  That means someone has to load up each game and sim; this makes finding out what happens at retirement very boring and tedious.

Searching on google, I found that someone actually did try to find out what happens... well, not really, but the game forced him to retire in a way.  Here is what he found out (Source):

Needless to say, I was very disappointed :/.  Probably even more disappointed than the lack of celebratory video/screen/whatnot I received following a three-peat world series championships my My Player MLB 2K10 Blue Jays catcher achieved.  If the developers don't include any type of reward for people going through My Player modes for a substantial amount of time or gameplay, it's gonna turn people off from an otherwise awesome game mode.  MLB 2K10 at least gives your character the option to retire into the hall of fame (not sure if doing so gives you anything worthwhile to look at - going to play till I'm forced to retire).  I think I'll sorta stop playing NBA 2K11 for now and just play it whenever I get bored of whatever else I'm playing.  Maybe I'll just make a new character and play a different position (power forward perhaps), I don't know... I really like playing as point guard.

PS:  While my NBA 2K11 point guard didn't play as many seasons as the person on the website, after winning my 5th NBA Title with the Heat, the game constantly crashes every time I load up the endorsements section of My Career.  I dunno if it's related or not = /.

It's going to suck for the insane people that will actually play every game for 21 seasons.

@PeasantAbuse: Yeah.  It's exactly why I'm gonna stop playing it to find out when I can retire heh.  I was honestly expecting some sort of message or something.. at least something from my agent :/.  Although, it would be sorta hilarious to see a 100+ year old NBA player still dishin' it on the court xD.

Yeah, the game just freezes up for ya, apparently.  Mind you, the guy who attempted this was playing on a 360, I believe.  In any case, the game really has no developed end point in terms of My Player... it just keeps going and going... until you get bored of it.  The endorsements, too, seem to be half-fleshed developer ideas, since they just stop abruptly without any warning or anything.  All you get is one lousy shoe.. and you can't even change the stats on it.. not like it would matter after getting your skill points maxed out =/.  It's too bad too... other than these issues I really loved playing the game.

Heh.  Yeah, seasons do take pretty long to complete.  I didn't think  8 seasons was a lot, honestly, heh.. but then again I did play a few games a day.. the gameplay in the game is without a doubt addictive fun, as you know :).  When I got to the playoffs, sometimes I would just keep playing them back to back till it was done xD.
