A flawed yet rare juwel 2

I feel like this game should be a bigger deal than it is.There is a specific type of gamer that longs for realism, accuracy and seriousness in games. In the presence of this gamer, other gamers and game critics roll their eyes at each other, as they point with their thumb and say, “It’s that guy again. Uh, can you believe that guy?”. They then may proceed to lecture why games should not be realistic or serious. It has been like this for as long as computer games have existed. A...

Much improved and addictive, but still flawed 0

It seems unfair to Subnautica. Subnautica developers have achieved success with their game with far greater efficiency, fewer resources and a much lower price tag than the No Man’s Sky developers. And now, after a colossal failure of a launch, No Man’s Sky has borrowed a bunch of features from Subnautica that made that game a success, and unfortunately for Subnautica, surpassed it by having the allure of space travel and larger scale. I wonder if we, as wallet voters, should consider...

A fun open world experience bogged down by repetition and a few poor design choices 1

This game has some pretty poor writing, a number of really awkward design choices that feel more like bugs (in addition to actual bugs) and a strange way to integrate story. This may make a poor first impression. However, the story structure is interesting and there is a lot of open-world fun to be had.Pros:- Customisation.Customisation is an important and fun feature in open world games (which often gets ignored by professional critics). I was pleased to start the game with a fairly detailed ch...

A game that fooled the world 0

I can see it now, thousands of ‘em surrounding me, screaming and scratching at the pile of cars, on top of which I stand, alone in my truth. Their noises join to form a homogeneous hum that praises the newest Hitman game but I will continue to stand here, bravely screaming that they are all WRONG. Someone has to be the voice of reason and that burden is on me.Firstly, this game is still filled with game-breaking bugs, months after its release. The last target in a mission was a woman who g...

There are gems to find 0

As you can see, the reviews are all over the place for this game and that is due to the fact that the game has a lot of stuff, some of which is good and some of which is bad, and the question is: will you find something that is fun for you? The answer might be yes, but you will have to find the strength to ignore a lot of the garbage, and you will sometimes need luck to stumble into the right stuff. I was lucky to pick the Imperial Agent as my first class and I enjoyed its story and the open wor...

Well-polished experience overall 0

Titanfall 2 is a linear and familiar experience but it is, for most part, a very well-polished linear experience and is therefore a refreshing change from some of the more buggy, half-baked, disappointing broken promises that pass as games these days. Titanfall 2 is paced well, has a variety of mechanics, and uses those game mechanics to the fullest extent. The main one is wall running combined with a double jump. This mechanic is somewhat overused, as the game keeps coming up with increasingly ...

Broken single player, tedious old-fashion multiplayer. 0

The single player experience is both an intended and an unintended failure. The team mates will not shoot the enemy. The only time they manage to kill something is if it is scripted to happen or if, once in a lifetime, one of them throws a grenade. This behavior is apparently an intended feature. So is getting sniped by a grenade that an AI throws at you from 150 meters away. Sometimes, your team mates will not shoot at all, for an entire mission. Or sometimes you will be asked to swim and your ...

Neither a great game, nor a Rainbow Six game 0

Lockdown plays like a budget title. The AI is terrible. The action is quick and simple. The levels are linear. The story is something about a virus. Different weapons make no difference. Everything is painfully...plainfully plain. This is also not a Rainbow Six game anymore. Gone are many of the important tactical features, which make a Rainbow game. Gone is the complexity, realism and mission planning. Orders can still be given to team members to breach doors, throw grenades, clear rooms and sco...

Great atmosphere 0

The gameplay itself is simple: pick one of the several cars and race one or several opponents on one of the game's several maps. You can get chased by the cops and getting caught sometimes results in a fun little FMV to watch. What this game has is an atmosphere. The background trance music sets a distant mystic mood. Various sounds set against the music, like the narrator explaining the history of a car, serve to enforce that mood. So do the graphics. Driving can be done from the cockpit view, w...

Pleasantly surprising 0

Look, Sniper Ghost Warrior is an extremely linear budget title. If you are going to compare it to an AAA title, of course it will not compete. But it also costs appropriately and does not try to pretend to be more than it is.The acting is terrible. Thankfully you don't hear a lot of dialogue. The story...don't even ask. There is a bad guy. Also, despite the game being about sniping, there is neither zeroing nor elevation nor windage adjustment, but I would like to point out that this is also abs...

A broken promise 0

Let me tell you a little story. Trust me, it is relevant.I was somewhat late to the party when I discovered Operation Flashpoint on PC. There was something magical about that game. In it, I crawled on my belly for an hour in some small village trying to maneuver around a sudden enemy APC, and I eventually set a charge on it and managed to blow it up. I never experienced such freedom, such risk, such danger and such dynamic combat in a game before. The problem was that by that time the graphics w...

Has balancing problems, but can be fun. 0

There are 2 main problems with this game.1. I suck at it and do not have much fun as a result. Now, you may laugh, but I don't think it is all my fault, or more importantly, that the lack of fun I have as a result of my suckage is my responsibility. The main role in the game is that of the fighter pilot and there are a number of players who top the leaderboards and kill everything in sight. For a normal person however, it's a matter of struggling with the mouse aim controls until you are inevita...

An average city builder with building morphing effects (and some RTS?) 0

There is not a whole lot to say about this game. It is a city builder set during the Roman times with nice building morphing effects. It suffers from a low budget arcady feel. Gameplay is quite fast and hard to keep up with, unless you exploit a pausing bug. The cheap feel is at least partially due to the music, which sounds like a cheap midi composition. It can get on your nerves after a while. I do like the free-style building of towns where the buildings can merge into one another and the roa...

One of the worst shooters 0

The shock I experienced was not so much with the poor quality of the game itself, but with the positive reviews and defense that this game received. To this day I am trying to understand and cannot. It appears that players are digging the game's atmosphere, but what creates that atmosphere? It's not the music, because there is hardly any music in the game. It's not the spooky graphics, because the game mostly consists of gray corridors. Is it the girl from the Ring? Just to clarify, we all under...

The name does not do this chill game justice 0

The "Simulator" brand (and font) have been for years associated with not so great quality products, aside from maybe the Flight Simulator. Euro Truck Simulator 2 is much better than it has any business being. First of all, it delivers what it promises: the game simulates you driving trucks and delivering cargo across Europe. Secondly, the execution goes beyond the required minimum. There are many things to consider, like the sleep requirement, the time deadline and the potential damage you can d...

One of the greatest multiplayer FPS 0

It is difficult to strike a true balance in games. If you are building a shooter you are either expected to go for realism or for stupid fun. Reviewers usually want to know what the hook of a game is. The accepted idea is that if the game tries to be good at everything, it will not be really good at anything and it will have no distinguishing focus. Well, somehow the creators of Insurgency found a way to make a balanced FPS that is quite good overall and does not fall into any one specific camp,...

A classic RTS with a few cool ideas 0

The Earth series are part of the classic RTS genre, meaning you send a few units against a few enemies and they shoot at one another slowly, slowly chipping away one another's health bar and having none of the scale or realism of a real war offensive. On top of that, the acting is terrible and this is a fairly story-driven game with characters so you hear a lot of it. The campaign feels unbalanced because at times the missions are very easy and at other times the missions are nearly impossible, ...

Impressive and disappointing at the same time 0

This X Files game came on between 4 and 7 disks. That alone was amazing to an 8 year old who was sitting down to play this game for the first time. It is a full-motion video game, which can be perceived as better looking than all other games, since the people you see on screen are real and the 3D models suddenly look bad by comparison. But most importantly, it is X-Files, a show that in retrospect was not as good as we may remember it due to a few badly written plot points and the eventual sinki...

A shallow gamificaiton of repairing cars 0

Fixing different car problems for money feels like a suitable gameplay mechanic (no pun intended). The problem is that not enough effort is put into the execution of this idea. Everything is too simplistic and shallow and some features are hardly useful at all.You need to locate the broken parts based on a client's request and then replace them with a part bought with the help of a computer. Occasionally you have to replace oil. That is more or less it. The amount of parts you get to work with i...

No real flaws in this simple pretty co-op platformer 0

It is 2.5D, it is very pretty, it is meant to be played with up to 3 buddies and it has physics puzzles. It's good.It is difficult to find a flaw with this platformer since it keeps things small and simple, and it is difficult to call the smallness and simplicity a flaw since the game costs appropriately. You get a choice out of 3 players and you move to the end of the level, using your physics-based powers to defeat enemies and navigate hazards. The visuals show off a variety of well-designed e...

Incredibly high quality mixed with a few incredibly annoying things 0

GTA V runs the risk of being one of the most overrated games. It has some of the best acting in a game, very good atmospheric graphics with great optimization and fun missions, but there are so many sides to this game and so much ...stuff in it, that you know not everything can be good. Some things can be annoying and some are closely enough connected to the gameplay that start spoiling it. The number one problem is that the multiplayer is a mess, yet it adds a number of really important feature...

The PC version features the Bioware-quality characters but has gameplay issues 0

Con's:Terribly ported controls on PC, that were not that good to begin with. I suggest don't play this without a controller;Bugs slowly creep in and stay. Loading times are longer and longer, graphics get glitchy, characters stop moving in the middle of battle, etc.;Awkward or lacking design in the hud, the skill upgrade tree, crafting and mission management. For example, when buying a schematic needed for crafting a piece of armor, not allowed to see what the armor will look like. Pro's:A reall...

Disappointing and boring, but ok if you are playing with others 0

Elder Scrolls Online is like like the aliens stole your wife and then sent a robotic replacement and you feel that everything about the way she acts does not feel like the person you know and love. Or it is like some Chinese company tried to copy an Apple or a Samsung phone, not just the outside but the inside too. The engineers were given the real thing to hold and play with and then they were asked to copy it. This game seems like an Elder Scrolls game. It has a fairly good atmospheric music t...

Much better than expected if you stick to the good stuff 0

Star Wars The Old Republic is better than Grand Theft Auto V.If your head just exploded, I apologize. Let me explain. The Old Republic has issues, namely that is for most part a bland cookie-cutter traditional Massive Multiplayer Online game. Also, it had a very rough start when it first came out because the monthly fee it was charging people did not represent the value of the game and certainly did not represent the hype built by its marketing campaign. But now it is free to play and having exp...
