I played the demo for this and I really liked the narrator's voice. But I think something else was coming out at the same time so I never did buy it. Also, Yoko Taro's name being attached gave me an expectation of weird/funny/subversive things in the story, whereas the opening at least played things mostly straight when it comes to RPG tropes.
Gosh, I wish I had more time to set aside for tactics games. I adored XCOM 2 but I haven't even got to Midnight Suns. I played Pentiment for about half an hour but otherwise I haven't touched the games on your list... so, thanks for the recommendations!
@nodima: I ultimately had to turn Requiem's difficulty down at that sequence where you can't see anything and guys keep coming at you. While I like that the combat mechanics in the series are unconventional, it can get a little clunky sometimes.
Sorry about your struggles with Monkey Island. I do agree that adventure gaming can be like a muscle, and if you aren't trained to think a certain way it can get very frustrating. And once you look up one solution, you start doubting yourself every step of the way. Just blasting through for the story is still a valid way to experience it, in my opinion. And thanks for shouting out Dominic Armato, he's one of the best parts of the whole series!
