JimmyJackJones: Best of 2010

Here they are, my personal favorite games that came out last year.  I've done some reshuffling, as there were so many great games that came out this year.  Civ V was on this list at first, but I just haven't felt motivated to play it since the first week it launched, so I didn't feel right about keeping it up here.  God of War III is another game that was close to making the cut, but just got edged out.  As for those that made it, I did some pretty in depth blogs about some of these around July, so go check out the links below if you care to see what stood out so much to me:

Mass Effect 2
Red Dead Redemption
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Heavy Rain

List items

  • Good God, do I love Mass Effect 2. This has become a contender for my favorite game of all time. It's that good.

  • Playing Undead Nightmare reminded me of how great this game is, though that DLC was nowhere near as good as the main game. Still, any chance to go back to the world of Red Dead is one I'll gladly take.

  • I loved Assassin's Creed 2. This game is even better. Once you can start calling in your recruits to take fools out, you'll wonder how you ever got along without them.

  • Yes, you still right click on enemies and hit the number keys in a specific pattern till they're dead. But Cataclysm changes so much else about WOW for the better, that it still feels like a very different game. Blizzard will continue to leech money from my bank account for a long time to come.

  • IT'S MARIO. How can he not make it onto my list?

  • Jimmy's latest adventure stands as my favorite RTS ever. And I don't even care about the multiplayer.

  • I should probably go buy that Vietnam content. I still have fond memories of playing countless hours of this online, which is something I rarely do.

  • Terrible accents asides, Heavy Rain's story and mechanics still resonate with me in an extremely positive way.

  • I don't know if it's "art", but Limbo is a fantastic brainteaser/platformer. I'm still not sure if there was an actual story here, but the atmosphere does more than enough to keep you pushing on through the horrors within Limbo's world.

  • This barely managed to bump it's way up the list. I really enjoyed the changes they made to the series here, making Conviction the equivalent to a summer action movie. With some great co-op action added within, Sam Fisher's latest game was exciting and entertaining enough to make it my number ten pick.
