Your writing never feels like a slog to get through no matter the word count, so you've got nothing to apologize for!

That Killer7 write-up brought me back to that time I voraciously consumed that plot analysis FAQ on GameFAQs more than a decade ago and had whatever was left of my exploded teenage mind from finishing the game just absolutely obliterated. I'd like to say I'm the same as you in that I don't care at all about your garden variety geek analysis obsessed with fitting together minute plot details to "solve" fiction, but yeah, Killer7 is one of the two works that I had gladly surrendered to this... almost primal need to make sense and logic the fuck out of a seemingly incomprehensible story.

I really really need to get around to playing Heaven Will Be Mine, especially now that you and Austin Walker think it's the second best game released this year!

Also, yes, you... nailed why Hollow Knight is such a special thing, that it isn't just an overly ambitious Metroidvania or a grindless 2D Dark Souls. Definitely one of the major reasons why it's also my personal 2018 GOTY.

Got the bit, appreciate the effort to do something different, but yeah, a lot of it dragged on for too long. Agreed with the people who say this type of comedy should be snappy.

Not raging or frustrated or upset or disappointed. Just not for me! I'll be happily keeping my subscription, and I look forward to more stuff from the GBeast crew.

Personally, seeing janky VR problems because of the studio setup has kinda stopped being funny by this third time. There should be other horror games out there that can make for a scary good time without a headset on for the next episode!

the ashley is racist thing is just an incredibly tired complaint that also reeks of hypocrisy in that so many players overlook all the other characters being prejudiced against the other species when you're just learning about them too. garrus thinks krogans are savages and was all for the genophage. tali thinks the geth should have been wiped out. wrex distrusts turians and hates salarians. the big fan favorite in mass effect 2 is the architect of an entire species genocide, and the big fan favorite in mass effect 3 is proud of enslaving the entire galaxy!

but nah, ashley's the one racist of the mass effect series, never mind that the game lets her grow and learn to respect and be friends with aliens, like literally everyone in the crew if you give them the time of day.

ANYWAY

it's good to see alex getting more comfortable with the combat and that darned hacking minigame. he just has to not be as stingy with the medi-gel, and he'll be good for the rest of the game for the most part.

oh and i definitely remember the space monkey quest! sure was cathartic just blowing them up on my renegade playthrough lol.

long-time god hand fan, first-time gotta god hand commenter

love that y'all are playing and enjoying this game! really makes me wanna go back and play it too, even after basically 100%-ing it... a decade ago.

i get it if it just doesn't fit the tight schedule, but boy i wish this were a regular weekly series instead! it would also probably make the experience smoother since that woud mean not jumping into its unforgiving arms (hands? fists?) weeks cold every single time you record a video.

anyway, good job with overcoming the obstacles in this episode! i totally believe you two can beat this game within the calendar year!

god hand for old game of the year, 2018

Have to echo some of the comments about using the powers as often as possible to make the fights way easier. Each ability has its own cooldown unlike in the next two games, so it's possible to burst down single targets real quick when you combo abilities from your entire squad on one enemy. Sure, pausing to bring up the skill wheel slows down the combat, but it's preferable to dying over and over again in battle due to not taking advantage of what the game offers in its systems.

And yes, this is very much more of an RPG than the rest of the series, so learning what powers do, what they're strong and weak against, what the optimal gear and mods are, etc., are all important in making the admittedly clunky combat go way smoother than just trying to play this like a super cautious third-person cover shooter. That info also applies to what the enemies can do! There were moments in those combat sections when y'all were wondering why none of the squad's abilities were available, and that was because they all got hit by a tech ability that disables their powers.

Also, y'all gotta stop just sending your two buddies out in the open to get executed immediately. Put them in cover where they can still draw fire but don't get removed from combat instantly!

one last thing, yeah, the active offensive abilities have to be aimed properly at enemies, and they don't go through cover. they don't auto lock on!

chiming in to say that this was an amazing video all the way through with a perfect ending

would not mind seeing y'all play this again in the future! it kinda taps into what made PROJECT BEAST good, so a series like that with this game sounds like a fantastic idea. just not sure what goal you can have like making it to the moon and back, but i'm sure y'all can come up with something if you wanna pursue that!

@ape_dosmil: don't equivocate people who want business owners, employees, and government officials who hold and practice hateful beliefs that affect lives to lose their jobs/positions with people who want creatives (mostly women) who are tired of their competence being questioned (no matter how "politely") by strangers with zero experience to get fired

and yes, i will always be for defending women and people in minority groups who are "rude" when their livelihoods and very existence are being questioned and threatened. to ignore the history and power dynamics in play in circumstances like this one is being naive at the very best.

and when the results are people summarily fired, women developers are more wary about their jobs and online presence, and hate mobs feel empowered, i honestly cannot comprehend how anyone can still focus on one aggressive comment, consumer entitlement, and corporate power over labor.

also,y'all want investigative reporting?

gw2 devs are rightfully scared, disappointed, and angry.

again, for anyone arguing the one issue of a female dev having enough of her competence questioned in light of literally EVERYTHING ELSE that happened signals to me that those people have their priorities all fucked up or are just being completely disingenuous.
