It sounds like your Win10 key was a "7->10 upgrade" key. Those are hardware-locked no matter what. The language used at the time was something like "for the lifetime of the device". Motherboard changes count as "changing the device". A normal Win10 key should move between hardware once linked to an MS account.

Another Darksiders was such an unlikely event that I had to buy it no matter what, but the early reviews are certainly disappointing.

Some quick thoughts:

Mouse-over as a UI interaction... procedure (?)... is bad. Speaking as a not super precise mouser, that is bad for me.

The front door is hero-image taken to the extreme just as hero-images are on the way out. That aspect will look really dated before you know it.

After some testing I think the issue may involve the domain "dw.cbsi.com".

I use a caching DNS server to blackhole domains from this list: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.txt.

Search this list (updated as of September 18th) for dw.cbsi.com and it is commented out mentioning "CNET downloads".

Testing with a browser (Waterfox 39, Win8.1) without any plugin (not logged in), if I allow this domain the video player works, if I block the domain the player doesn't work.

Then in a browser (Firefox 41.0.1, Win8.1) using uBlock Origin (and now logged in), the player works if I allow: giantbomb.com, ajax.googleapis.com, cbsi.com and cbsinteractive.com.

The cookies set are also different when the dw.cbsi.com is allowed or blocked.

When allowed (and not logged in) I see:
