The best mulitplayer ever just got better.

I've been playing the Assassin's Creed Revelations beta for the last 5 hours. I think the mulitplayer is brotherhood was the best ever, better than any other online anything.
This is even better, they made some smart changes. All you people that complained about stunning not working right, it works a LOT better now. Even if you don't all the way stun them and they still kill you, you can still get points for putting up a fight. Deathmatch is a fantastic new mode, way better than wanted but that mode is still in there.
You know in Black Ops how you can make your emblem and put it on your guy, you can do that here too. The new characters look better than the brotherhood ones and are much more customizable. Manhunt is forever changed by the addition of smokebomb mines.

I can't even begin to tell you much I love this and how satisfying it is. In brotherhood I got to level 50 three times, I played it for months.
I've played this beta for 5 hours I'm level 20 I came in 1st place seven times in a row. Skyrim and saints row the third might have to take a backseat, which is crazy because saints row 3 is my most looked forward to game of this year. This beta that does not even have half the stuff in it, may have just trump my hype for saints row.

Given that you you think AC:B had the best multiplayer ever, you might disagree, but while I enjoyed it and played a lot of it, I felt like the game was pretty seriously imbalanced. Has that changed from what you've seen so far?

Glad to hear it's awesome. I can't wait to see it in action. Their first iteration of the MP was really cool, super interested in seeing more on the changes.

Also it's nice to hear that they fixed up the stunning a little bit. I don't want it to be too powerful, but not too feel too much like pure luck when you get it.

I watch footage and I have no idea what goes on in those videos. Just people walking and then BAM assassinating others for no apparent reason.

Got any good tutorial videos?

The problem I had with the multiplayer was that no one actually acted like AI characters. They sprinted constantly and got a bunch of 100pts kills which was enough to weigh up my stealth kills. It broke it for me because when you had to chase them, you had no choice but to constantly sprint after them.

I never complained about the stun ability because like everything else, it required timing and patience. But now you can spam that stun button. You can literally run around and stun everyone and anyone. That is what happened today when I played; I was stunned multiple times by targets before I even knew where my targets were. People still run around and go on rooftops. In the beta, you are given three slots of two abilities, except they don't tell you what they are and are represented by symbols. The male personas available in the beta have outfit colors that are similar to the tones of the maps and to each other: brown, white, black, tan, crimson. The female outfit colors are bright and easy to spot: All green, all blue, and all white. My first match I joined I picked the blue outfitted female. There was no npc personas in the entire match that was like mine, so I was killed many times due to not being able to blend in anywhere. This is not a better multiplayer because instead of adding more strategy and choosing to evolve, they have dumbed it down, taking out whatever strategy was in it. It is too similar in some ways: same game modes, same abilities, etc., and different in worse ways: small and uncreative maps, uninteresting personas, and made for a more casual experience.

I've actually hardly ever had problems with that. I just play with random people.

SNES mario kart is pretty fucking great, but this is waaay more satisfying. Goldeneye is garage, you just like it because you were in school at the time.

I'm not a fan of the series but it's good to hear that they've improved it. Speaking of which, have they done anything to prevent "stabbing-trains" yet? i.e. Player A is stabbed by player B who is then seen (and then stabbed) by player C, who in turn is also seen and stabbed by player D to which player E witnesses...et cetera.

They made the animations better. instead of everyone's kill animations playing out one by one, they all go at once. it's the most badass thing to see.

I got no tutorial video, but basically you are given a picture of a target and you'll be given a direction to the general area of where your target currently is. You'll just have to find the target and assassinate them, preferably without them noticing you first.

The two main challenges when you're doing this are:

- The character model for your target isn't unique, it's shared with the NPCs that populate the map

- You are also a target for another assassin

Think there's a major flaw with the deathmatch.   Basically got into a match, none of the NPC's were clones of myself so basically whoever got a contract on me basically could kill me whenever because i can't hide in the crowd.

I see.. very interesting! looking forward for it in AC:R, not sure why i totally dismissed it in AC:B

Thank you, it's about time someone put Goldeneye in it's place. Tired of people putting, what use to be a great title back in the day, as the Holy Grail of FPS's.

While I never seemed to play enough Brotherhood, I did REALLY love the multiplayer. I'm not a big fan of some of the new models. They aren't as unique as the Brotherhood models and are harder to spot from a distance. I also, don't much like how fast you are targeted when your in last place. Come on guys, I'm in last place give me a break. But the emblem thing, stunning, and lots of other stuff certainly make this game better so far.

I liked the idea in ACB and it worked well when people played it right, but most players pretty much ruined it for me because they could not understand that IT IS A STEALTH GAME AND YOU SHOULD PLAY STEALTHILY!  Seriously, everybody would just run up on the rooftops and just throw daggers/shoot each other instead of playing it like it should be played, and I'd have to do the same if I wanted to get my target.

I heard they reworked the Incognito bonus system a bit, for example?

You don't start at incognito, you have to work your way up to it.
You have to stalk your target for a little while till the meter fills up.

I played up to level 10 or so in the Brotherhood multiplayer and really enjoyed it. Played it with a friend where we took turns playing so a lot of the enjoyment came from the banter between us, but it's still one of the most unique experiences I've had in a multiplayer game.

I'm not terribly hyped about Revelations, I feel just about done with AC at this point, but I'll play it eventually and when I do I'll make sure to try the multiplayer again.

I really liked the multiplayer and was fairly good at it, but even when I just started playing I couldn't play more than 2-3 matches in a row. By the time I hit lvl 35 I was completely done with it. The new mechanics, especially the updated stun, have peaked my interest once more, though.

Yeah Deathmatch mode, you're gonna die, a lot.

Just kill alot.

As for this MP. I've been watching some youtube vids from some ACR community players (Esco, Shenmue, etc.) and it's looking that Deathmatch is the perfect way to hop in and just murder, without constant stressing that you are gonna be killed. Also saw some of the new abilities in action... I am so hype for this,

It specificly says easy deathmatch, so the old style with npc clones and the good old compass might still be in the final version.

I found this mode a little offputting at first, but it is pretty fun when you get the hang of it.

The new character models are also pretty neat, and feel more realistik than the ones in Brotherhood, but that might just be me.

@slashdotdot: normal deathmatch, wanted, manhunt, and artifact assault are all in the beta.

in the full game there will be all of those plus, corruption, assassination, vip escort, and chest capture.

I agree: the beta is amazing. My favourite mode is deathmatch because you can put your perks to the best use: blending in with the crowd makes a clone of you, for example. And since there is no indicator of which one of you is real there's some really tricky guessing and observing going on. The team hide and seek is my 2nd favourite.

I don't really enjoy wanted that much simply because of the indicator and the fact that you seem to get killed a lot by players who don't care about being stealthy and just want to get the lousy 100 points for a kill, making it hard to sneak up on someone.

Needless to say, it's great to see something as original as the ACR multiplayer.

i played some last night and just became annoyed with it. It seems they changed a lot from Brotherhood. The whispers thing is new right? Hearing whispers when an enemy is close by you yet it never worked for me...clearly I see an enemy tailing me yet I hear nothing. And also highlighting your target's portrait when you have them on screen.

After the 5th time of watching an enemy sprint at me and waiting for it to prompt me to counter them by hitting "O" and yet that prompt never appearing, I turned it off.

I do it wrong i guess but I don't feel like I like any of the changes I saw.
