I dunno how well episodic would work. Part of what I liked about QFG was the epic scale it brought: you start the game just arriving in a land, you finish being the hero. Still, just import from episode to episode, and have the season be the equivalent of the game; I suppose that could work.

I definitely would love to see a new QFG-style series. The original hero is played out so I'm imagining it would be an entirely new story - they could even change the name. But something like QFG, where you can import from game to game and such, would be cool. I think it would be nice to have a series that does a little more character development. QFG had really good worlds and such, but I felt like the characters never really changed that much, particulary the recurring ones who had opportunities to. The biggest example being the hero himself, though you could certainly argue that the Coles simply didn't want to intrude on each person's own conception of their character.

Nothing so far. Rayman Raving Rabbids would be the one that came closest, but I do like a few of the modes, and I got it for the right price (about $20)

Certainly they should be. The King's Quest remakes do already have pages.

Most perfect game I've played? No. But that's because it reaches so high. It's definitely one of the best games I've played.

The detail really is great. As others have said, the number of possible routes is amazing. I'm also impressed at how they make you feel like everything really is open ended. Even in parts where the game is in fact bottlenecking you, they do a good job of making the "choice" feel natural; and since you've gone through so many situations with real choice, you believe it's always there.

Deus Ex is still one of the best gameplay-story blends I've ever played. There are better games regarding each component, but Deus Ex really drew me in like few other games have. I still have amazing memories of trying to decide what to do, who to trust.

When I play Deus Ex and stare down my pistol at an enemy, I think "I have a choice whether to kill... their life is in my hands... and my choice may well have consequences for me too." Maybe this was partly thanks to it catching me at the right time, but still, I think it's a sad statement on "shooters" that few others have evoked this. I like my mindless Locust/Ganado/etc. killing as much as the next gamer, but I'd like some thoughtful games, too.

Does this game show its age badly? still considering a purchase on steam, not sure if the graphics are to dated for me to enjoy it.
"

Graphics show age. As does the shooter element of gameplay - bodies sticking out at a right angle to stairs, etc. Of course, if you can put up with this, I think you'll find the RPG element to be just as good as most RPG-shooter hybrids. Better shooter physics are one thing, but I have yet to see anything surpass Deus Ex' skill and augmentation systems for leveling up a character.

I would like to see something new too. Mind you, I don't think anything has particularly outstayed its welcome. Zelda is probably the worst offender, still going on the same formula as Ocarina, but Mario got some new stuff with Galaxy, and Metroid only arrived in 3D back on the Gamecube - indeed, I think the Metroid Prime trilogy went with its formula just long enough without overstaying its welcome.

You know what would be cool to see Nintendo try its hand at? Some real story. Sure, Zelda has plot, but its characters are pretty shallow. We already know they can do good gameplay; I'd love to see them merge that with better narrative. I'm not holding my breath, though.

I suppose I've "beaten" SSBB, if you mean Subspace Emissary.

Otherwise, only beaten Rayman Raving Rabbids and Paper Mario on VC so far.

"I'm pretty surprised by how upset people are getting about this.  I know where this guy is coming from.  I don't think the console is a piece of crap, at all, but I haven't touched it in weeks.  I'm not going to sell it because there will be games that I want to play, in addition to virtual console, and the game library is better than that of the PS3.  But still, the Wii feels like a lot of its potential is being wasted."

I have to agree some of its potential is going to waste. For instance, western RPGs are lacking, and JRPGs are in short supply. Then again, there's no particular reason to put those on Wii. A better example is that it's also not getting many shooters, despite the Wiimote-Nunchuk combo being practically made for them. Retro gave us Metroid Prime 3, but otherwise there's the RE4 port, the Medal of Honor game, and I suppose Call of Duty 3. But Nintendo has never really made those kinds of games, why should they start now? As far as I can see, Nintendo has delivered the sorts of stuff they always have. What I see missing in the Wii line-up is due to lack of third party support, not due to Nintendo.

I'm normally not a big racing fan, but was a late convert to the series with F-Zero GX. Normally I don't like games that are akin to throwing your head against a brick wall, but there's something rewarding about seeing the wall yield every 20th blow or so. ;) Especially the way GX rewarded you with custom parts.

I do hope to see one for the Wii, I could use some new F-Zero down the line.

On-line play would be cool, however it would have to be good for a fast game like F-Zero. But considering how well Brawl turned out...

It wasn't my favorite during my first playthrough of the series (possibly because there was no NewRisingSun patch in those dark days), but Shadows of Darkness has grown on me and is now my favorite. Of course, with the VGA remake of Trial by Fire coming out, IV will probably be given a run for its money. (No, the original doesn't quite do it for me. Good game, but I'm simply prejudiced against anything with less than 256 colors.)

What's your favorite QFG?
