Divinity Original Sin 2 is a really good co op game. Me and my friend love playing that game and decided to play the premade characters the game had and found the story to be a lot more cooler with their backstories. There is also a lot of characters and ways for things to do that may not be obvious without a second playthough and knowing how the mechanics works together.

Heavily recommends the game if you are into fantasy and difficult but fair turn base games.

Hey everyone. I need to make a quick survey for a class. If you don't mind using a few minutes to fill this out that would be great. Here is the link.

Me and my friend loved the first game so we will try to get this one soon. I want to finally play as a Lich character and hopefully this game can make my dream come true!

I believe so, which is really weird because I didn't expect a turn based game to actually do that first. MGSV and other games had enemies that adapted to you but to my knowledge no game attempted to do the Nemesis system. If anything I would expect a Assassin Creed game to try to copy that system.

If the loot box system is a huge success then I would expect a lot more games trying to copy it to get some of that money.

I backed this game for a good bit of money a very long time ago and almost completely forgot about it. I understand if something happens and things need to be cut, even though I am disappointed at what was cut.

But when it is really close to release and you only announced what happened after someone else basically have to reveal that you cut things without saying a word is in pretty bad taste. All of these changes was made long before and yet only relatively recently was it announced.

Remember that this is not just an artist doing their craft, this is an entire company working on Torment with their own business people who will change the project just as much as the creators. To say that all of the cut content decisions came from the developers I would say is most likely false. People worked the numbers and calculated what to finish and what to cut out, hence why the Italian translation was taken out, it would not be profitable enough.

We will never know if the final project would be better with or without all the promises, what looks good on paper may not translate well in game. I am not going to witch hunt the developers for not keeping all their stretch goals, but I will condemn them for hiding it, or at the very least not being transparent on what has changed especially when they have regular updates.

I have been disappointed with most of the kickstarted games that I think I will not back another game in a very long time. This is one of the last projects that I am waiting full of hope to see what comes out of it. If this game becomes a great game then I think everyone will forgive them for it. Bioshock Infinite had cut content but the end product was really good and no one gave them too much hardship. No Man Sky also did not deliver on everything they promised and the game is considered mediocre at best to most people which led to extreme anger.

I am willing to wait and see. But I interested in more perspectives on this incident.

There was a small Fire Emblem Direct that talked about two new Fire Emblem games on the Switch. Fire Emblem Warriors this year and a new main line FE game for next year. Granted Warriors is also going to be on the New 3DS but usually lower quality to how a home console version. There is also another Fire Emblem game coming out this May as well for 3DS which I believe will be the last big game for the 3DS.

I honestly cannot think of any last gen consoles with an AMAZING line up their first year. I do not recall the Xbox One and PS4 having a good first year or even a decent second year. Last console I believe that had an amazing launch was the original Xbox with Halo as a big system seller.

Granted with how low WiiUs sold (imo I had a good value with all the things I bought for it) I can believe that Zelda will be a great console seller for people who did not get a WiiU.

I asked whether or not to play DQ7 on 3DS a while back.

I decided to play DQ7 and from there decide on what to do. This is my first Dragon Quest game and so I just want to talk a bit about what happens and my thoughts on this game, I hope you enjoy!

OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE SPOILERS SO CONSIDER THIS YOUR WARNING

This game starts out pretty slowly. The music just sounds fantastic and I love how everyone looks, I loved Dragon Balls and how Akira Toriyama draws his characters.

I like the time traveling aspect of everything. You with your friends go to different islands in the past and save them from whatever demon was controlling them. You then go to your present, which is hundreds of years later, and see whatever happens to the islands. I love how each island had different events that isn’t just everyone living happily ever after you saved them in the past. A few of the islands made me feel bittersweet on what happens to them.

I also love how your party and how many people will react to what is happening. I didn’t know you could tell Kiefer’s sister when happened to him and how some people in your island will react to whatever island you made appear. Some islands have mini quests line things where you get to resolve to help people but are mostly just there to help resolve some character arcs, which are nice.

The little bit of dialog your party will say once in a while is also nice. Not only do they have something to say after major events but even when you are just talking to no named people in town they may have something to say!

There are a few islands that stand out to me and that I would like to talk about them:

Regenstein:

This is the first island that you flat out could not save. I was not expecting to see an island that you just have to accept that you can’t do anything about it and move on. I love how you can get the remaining two people there to go around the world and try to help the world.

Frobisher:

Robots in the far past? Sure why not. I am assuming the Demon King made those robots but that just raises more question so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I do like how in the present you can see Ellie again and how desperately she is trying to save her long dead master. That small quest line made me feel bad for watching her do this until she finally breaks down. I still don’t know how to feel about that.

Greenthumb Gardens:

I thought I saw what will happen from a mile away but I did not expect that ending. What should have been an eloping scene ends with just everyone being miserable at the end. Going back to the present and realizing that Carraway made the garden he wanted but he and Lavender never got together was sad.

Later on when I found out just how close she was to him but didn’t have the heart to meet him again just made it more depressing. Watching was Carraway break down as he realized his mistake of not getting the girl was a good scene.

Alltrades Abbey:

Oh you want to finally class up after like 20 hours? How about removing all of your abilities first? I hate this level.

I am not sure what ever happened to Nava and her brother or I might have just missed a scene of that or something. But seriously I hate this level.

Al-Balad:

The first and only island that actually recognize that you saved them. I do like the people here even if some of the puzzles was confusing. I also like how the first King and Queen made sure that you would be rewarded and remembered long after they are gone. But you would think they will have told you about the Spirit of the desert in the past but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Grondal:

Unless I missed her, that girl near the big tree just disappeared, I’m assuming because she did her purpose. Having an entire town thinks they are the Demon King was cute. However having the present people milking that super tree for every drop was a lot less cute.

El Ciclo:

That clock tower dungeon reminds me of the mage tower in Dragon Age: Origins. I hated that place.

Wetlock:

The old man should have probably told everyone why he kidnapped them after kidnapping them, just saying.

Providence:

I do like how the priest in this town have his background explained later on. Poor guy.

Nottagen:

I feel bad with what happened to Wiggles but if I was in that town’s shoes I probably would be terrified of it as well. Also I miss that chill rock monster pet thing, I don’t know what really happened to it. But Wiggles getting a memorial was nice.

Hubble:

I do like how both sides of this conflict are portrayed as bad. No side (except for the Wizard guy I guess) was in the right for what they did.

I also didn’t think I would have liked Princess Euphonia in the present. I thought she was a spoiled princess, and she is, but a lot more caring and nice then I thought she was. Her kissing you and your team teasing you with that was a cute scene.

Vogograd:

The priest from earlier is shown which is nice. I like the evil plan here was well, pretty clever devil with the devil type thing. But couldn’t the priest have written a message or something to say what happen? Idk if that would be considered breaking the deal or whatever but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Where did Luka get the original statue anyway.

But dear Almighty the present situation there. They changed the story of what happened which is not only a slap to the face for the player but also for that poor priest. From what that mayor said when you find that out it seems like he did not originally do that and a previous mayor did. I don’t think the original mayor in the past would have done that. I do like how the kids there found out the truth and will strive to play with Lev and pass down the truth. I would have loved the ability to bring out the truth to them but alas I guess it was not meant to be.

DEMON KING FIGHT:

I guessed I over leveled but that demon king fight was pretty easy. Then the epilogue started occurring and for some reason felt too long. Waking up the Almighty was neat but then he started to kill people which was less neat. You would think some of these actions would raise more suspicion but I guess if God came down right now and go smiting people I would probably keep my head down as well. I wonder if the Roamers realized at the end that they were being used by the Demon King.

SUPER SPOILERS:

At this point the game felt like it could have ended a while ago but this started to feel tedious. Perhaps a better build up to the issue with the Almighty could have solved this problem but I don’t know. I had everyone leveled up and became Heroes but good god there was a lot of spells and abilities at that point that I did not know what they did and never used.

The Four Spirits people are cool but they probably should have helped a bit earlier in the game, just saying. But seeing Tan Super Saiyan Vegeta, Shantae the Wind Dancer, a rock with face problems, and mermaid was cool.

But I enjoyed that final boss fight with the Demon King. But him having 4 stages was unexpected and almost killed me at the end. Literally only have my main guy alive with no mana as I was trying to desperately finish him off, that was a fun and tense fight.

I like how you go through all the other islands afterword and everyone basically throwing you a party each time and you see what happens to them afterword.

My thoughts on the party:

The Hero:You would think after saving the world your dad would let you not do chores or the king would probably give you a bigger house or something.

Kiefer:Nice arc with him. Also nice of him to give back all the stuff he takes from you after he leaves.

Maribel:She was my only mage when she left my party, which was a rough time. Kind of a jerk but she is our jerk.

Ruff:I like when he sits down that the wolf would be sitting next to him, that’s a nice touch. Good kid, reminds me of kid Goku.

Mervyn:You would think being a legendary hero would mean your stats would be fantastic right? Nice guy but no one talks like him at all, even in his time period.

Aishe: Like Maribel but not a jerk. I thought there was some hints of attractions when she talks to the Hero. I don’t know if the Bro Code allows you to date a long distant decedent of your best buddy. I liked her but I didn't really know what to do with her classwise.

Overall I really enjoyed my time with this game. A lot of puzzles are really vague and I had to look up what to do when I missed a key clue or the game is just trying to screw with you. Music was great but can get pretty samey at the end. I really like the story but not sure if this is the one I would personally recommend newcomers to play, then again I didn’t play the others as well.

I plan on getting the Dragon Quest 8 remake with a gift card I was given at Christmas and enjoying it. Looking at some of the footage it looks leaps and bounds ahead of DQ7.

Sorry if something is missing or I didn’t mention a scene but these are what I was thinking when I finished this game. This is not really a review of this game but more of just mentioning some moments of it.

Thank you the people who recommend me to play this.

Thank you for the people who warned me, I understand now why this game probably should not be the first game in this series to play.

And Thank you for reading! (or skipping though this).

So with no definitive answer on what I should do I decided to start with DQ7. People are saying that DQ8 is the superior game over all so I rather not play 8 then go back to 7 and see how much better 8 is gameplay wise to 7. I feel like I would appreciate the changes much more if I played an older entry to the series. Luckly no other games are on my radar to play for quite a while and I could use another long JRPG to play, it has been a while.

@justin258: If i get DQ7 now I would not playing 8 right when it releases. I am just wondering if 7 was good enough that I should just play that then do 8 later in the year or if I should just wait for 8.

Hey everyone,

I have been looking for a good RPG for my N3DS and I wanted to wait for the Dragon Quest 8 remake that is coming out in January. I am around the end of Pokemon Sun and I wanted another Big JRPG to play pretty soon. I did not play any of the other Dragon Quest games but I have played other JRPGs.

So I was wondering how well DQ7 is holding up and if it is worth playing for someone who wants to get into this series for the first time.
