Hi, I wish I’d found your app earlier. I love it on my iPad. I’d been using video buddy and lack of development has made it more and more frustrating, and battery usage was very high. (It was great for it’s time though, not trying to trash it)

One crash I’ve been seeing is as follows. I download most videos to watch offline. I download in low quality. Sometimes I will be at the closing bits of the video, I’ll skip the last 15 seconds to make sure it’s ended. Hit the X. Hit delete. Then tap on my next downloaded video. It will crash the app.

It’s the metal gear scanlon V videos I’m watching.

Just in case that helps at all.

Thanks for the great app!

Anyone having iOS issues? I have sections begin repeating anywhere from 2-10 times (roughly). Then it goes silent for a minute while the video seems to catch up. I'm on an iPad Pro (9.7). On my trial, having a hard time deciding to subscribe if this is an issue. It can be very difficult to stick with.

"Microsoft also expects its deal to pay off almost immediately. It anticipates the deal will break-even by the end of fiscal year 2015, which ends on June 30, 2015. That's not very far off."

That can't be purely from game sales, right? At this point, I have to imagine most of the money Minecraft is making is coming from merchandising. But what do I know.

If you ever go into Toys R Us, their Minecraft stuff is fucking insane expensive.

There's so much crap they make money off of.

According to this article on Polygon, citing Gamesbeat, 'break even' in this context means... not what most would assume. They are only only promising to break even with an alternate scenario where they left the money in the bank to gain interest. They are not planning or expecting to make 2.5 billion dollars.

edit: and here's the article

I just think the scope of the movie was WAY too broad. But that is just an issue i have with it, it was a great movie, and i really enjoyed it. But i think you could've made a WAY better movie if you focused a more intense beam on one developer than following 3. Although i do understand the idea behind getting people in different stages of their career. But Ultimately i think Fez has the best story, I really think that it should have been "Fez:The Movie". I mean, why not? its not like they had to have some crazy broad appeal to the masses. The only people that want to watch the movie already know about it and knew at least a bit about the games involved.

I don't disagree with that! I think it was pretty good, I'm glad it appeals to those without crazy in depth gaming interests (as most here in the comments probably do!). It let's me show the movie to friends of mine who aren't me, and it kinda shows a very interesting, very appealing side of the industry.

I am really liking the Double Fine Adventure episodes, Sidequests and forum posts. They go waaaaayyyy in depth about their process making games. Especially the forum posts. If you aren't a backer, you can preorder and become a 'slacker backer' with access to all those things. You might like it! I think it might be the 'intense beam' on one dev you are looking for.

The image comparing the main characters is kind of damning in its own way. Look closely at the assets that were lifted from Torchlight, compared to the main characters there is no artistic consistency - something looks out of place. Kind of like they cherry picked some side characters and monsters, then created their own heroes. And, I like how these guys never address the most damning evidence, the sound files. How can you explain that??

Yea. Their defense doesn't really address the things Runic says was copied, it just points out some stuff that wasn't copied.

And when I say copied, I mean literally copied. Not imitated or inspired by.

Why not? as long as you could keep them from mouthing off at each other about it(something im not sure Fish could do), it could've added an interesting story. They skipped an important part about indie game development IMO, what happens if there is a huge disagreement between partners. For as much as fans of the film tout that it outlines the personal struggle of making an indie game, i feel that it missed out on a huge chance to go even deeper into indie game development. Its pretty shitty considering how they DID handle it in the movie. Mentioning it but not going into the backstory makes it seem like DeGroot is huge villian of the movie. Especially when he's just alluded to as 'that other guy'.

I think that's exactly what I wouldn't care about. I don't think a major business disagreement should be a part of indie game development, and it hurt Fez' development. I don't think that going deeper into that argument would constitute a deeper dive into indie game development.

I would also disagree he was made out the villain. Maybe Fish's nemesis? But Fish is also portrayed as pretty unstable. So maybe DeGroot is totally the good guy.

I didn't leave the movie thinking the mysterious business partner was a horrible partner. I left thinking these developers put their all into their projects and it shows. It shows in their personal health and mental state. It shows when one of the guys threatens both suicide and murder in fits of emotion.

The documentary doesn't provide a voice to itself, or to DeGroot. Because it isn't about either. It's about indie game development through the eyes of the "master" (Jonathan Blow), Team Meat who achieve that same mastery/success themselves in the film, and Fish who is still struggling. We aren't interested in Microsoft's approval process which Tommy hates. Team Meat will never work with MS again they say because of issues with ad placement. Where's Microsoft's side of the story presented?

Edit: Last question is rhetorical! Comparing that drama in the film with Fish/DeGroot.

I totally agree. Poor form on the part of the folks making Indie Game. They're unashamedly making an inherently biased story a pivotal point of their movie. That's not how you make a documentary.

Well, I guess I should say that's not how you make a good documentary.

From the film, I actually didn't get the feeling Fish was completely in the right in his business disagreement, what with him seeming very unhinged a lot during the movie.

I think it's pretty easy to see that his view is super biased. You as a viewer can clearly see he's very invested in this development, and he's not thinking clearly. He talks about suicide if he can't finish the game!

Also, the fact is, the movie doesn't go remotely in depth about the disagreement. It states they had a falling out. The other guy needs to sign a document to allow Fez to be made/shown at PAX. It's slow going, but it does get signed. He doesn't seem like an evil guy to me.

Team Meat guys are portrayed as the guys coming out of the insane development hell that the whole movie is about, but Fish is still in those depths. I don't think Fish is presented as a reliable narrator of his business troubles, and him threatening to kill DeGroot kinda makes it clear he's a bit off while that is being filmed. It made Fish seem pretty crazy to me, and possibly the source of the issues. (although, I'd imagine business troubles tend to have negative contributions on both sides of the issue, whatever it may be)
