Our societies moves in popularity waves. Things are first niche, then they become popular, and when they grow too popular, it becomes popular to not like it anymore. This has been the case with the CoD series, where everyone and their dog, can't stop talking about how much they hate the series. To stay on the forefront of things, I would now like to start the next step. The anti-anti-CoD movement. Yup that is right, the popularity of CoD bashing REALLY pisses us off, so we can't comment in any thread without mentioning our distaste for it. Doesn't matter what the original topic was.

I'm in the don't care either way movement, which isn't gaining much traction because I could just barely get past my immense lethargy to type this post.

I hate when people just join in to hate something popular because it's "cool." I don't mind Call of Duty, I just decided to try out Battlefield 3 instead (Black Ops disappointed me).

What can I say about Call of Duty that hasn't already been said about Afghanistan, its bombed out and depleted.

They're the same games. Modern Warfare 2 and 3 most closely.

Heck, even when MW3 crashes on PC it says "Modern Warfare 2 has encountered a problem and has shut down" or whatever it says in english.

i don't hate or dislike the CoD series, quite the opposite but after finally finishing the sp of MW3 i can say it is the worse campaign of the series i have played its boring, predictable, unimaginative, its like sledge hammer said "hey you know everything they did in MW2 lets do that again, exactly" and they did i could have played MW2 again and got the same enjoyment and closure out of it, so yes i hate the MW3 sp campaign and i am proud of it.

i give no opinions on the multi-player, it is what it is.

P.S i don't hate or dislike anyone who does not share my opinion.

Why do people care what other people think of a game?

Or we all just grow up, shut up, and move along.

I don't hate CoD, but i dislike it. You'll only buy CoD games to play the multiplayer, which lets face it. Has been almost exactly the same for quite a while. If you like it, play it. But i don't. And i don't hate CoD because it's popular, i just think there are a lot better games out there.

This is not an explanation, mind you.

Popularity brings with it a catering to mediocrity in product sequels and an ambition to commercially exploit a popular trend and do so quickly, since most popularity is short lived. Caution and even hate are fully warranted for all popular trends. Unless a company makes a decision not to exploit popularity, but steadily develop and improve its success. Also, any combination on the scale between exploitation and improvement is possible.

Example Exploitation: Giantbomb becomes popular, launches two more sites.

Example Improvement: Giantbomb becomes popular, hires an additional writer. (In the future possibly hiring more video editors to cut and trim crazy long rambling video content).

I don't hate CoD.
 
But it does make me sad to see it sell millions of copies in a day when so many other great games haven't sold that much in a year.
