Look, guys, I know things are pretty damn tense right now, but right now we're just building these massive forests of opinions and discussions being completely ignored. This is just perpetually happening because people are hearing snippets of information, then quickly sharing their opinion knowing little about the situation. So please, let's just read what's been said, understand differing opinions and try to figure this out in a somewhat calm way. Look, I would never ask this from any other popular board, but goddamn if the GB community can be so much better than all those others. We can deal with this as a family.
I completely agree that some people are usurping the friendly medal they were given by GB, and it's really really dumb. But I mean on the other side of the spectrum we're also getting people shouting that GB is dead to them and the site is doomed because of subscriptions. You're always going to get dumb people on either side of things.
You probably could have just put this in one of the other countless opinion threads, but it's cool.
I think what you're misunderstanding is that GiantBomb isn't so much cutting the podcast in half as making it the Whiskey-podcast average of 1 hour, with a bonus 2nd hour for subscribers (which nonsubscribers still get, albeit later on). And really that looks like your whole argument; the bombcast. You don't NEED to subscribe because there's nothing you're being denied anything neccesary to the site experience, as it should be. It's like if everyone get a slice of cake, and you got two. Then they said "Hey come on now this is unfair to the other kids, and costs twice as much!" so they take a slice away, and you feel robbed, even though you still have a slice.

GiantBomb just introduced a subscription that gives you a usermedal, HD video, exclusive friday show, t-shirt and no ads, the controversy being GiantBomb is also lowering it's podcast to the 1hour average, with the 2nd hour being a subscriber bonus (Although normal bombers get the 2nd hour a week later).
Guys let's not lump eachother into categories like the rest of the damn human race. Paid members are not snot-nosed pricks, Non-Paying members are not cheap QQers. There are examples of both in each group, but that doesn't make everyone such.
