It's funny that the one mechanic Jason argues with Dan about (fulton percentage changing) is also the one mechanic Dan is completely right about.

I don't mind how anyone pronounces Kojima as long as they don't say Kojima-san.

@Mike: That is a great graphic. I would just add that enemies surrendered on the ground will never get up on their own unless full on combat mode is engaged.

YESSSS.

Dan gets mad at himself for not knowing the mechanics of MGS V. Finally he feels the way we all do. It feels so good to see him spaz about the loadouts. That's right, Dan! God fucking damn it is absolutely right!

The fulton device I imagine works like it did in The Dark Knight. A balloon holds a hook up in the air, a plane flies by, catching the hook, and quickly extracts the person from the area. Nothing is propelling the fulton up into the sky. It's just a line that gets pulled in. Notice whenever you fulton someone in MGS V you can hear a plane fly by (although you can't see it).

@mrthomasella: You don't have to be standing to throw someone. I mean, Snake will pop up for a moment to perform the attack, then go back down in crouch, but he does that when you grab an enemy as well.

Also, holding someone up at gunpoint isn't a good idea when there's another enemy close by. When you hold someone up, the enemy makes a grunt sound that will alert nearby soldiers.

I don't think I've ever seen someone wake up in the toilets on their own, but maybe that's just me. What I can definitely say is that tranqing an enemy will not "make him stay down." It keeps them down longer, but they never stay asleep forever. The only way to make them stay down for good non-lethally is to make them surrender on the ground. You can either hold them up and order them to get down or you can perform a takedown, kick them awake, then aim a gun at them while they're on the ground. Both of those options have a negative. If you hold someone up, sometimes they will try to swing a knife at you instead of following an order. If you perform a takedown first, kicking them awake will make them grunt which will alert nearby enemies.

I love how complex and varied this system is. So many ways to perform the stealth, so many different strategies you can take. I wish Dan understood these mechanics better.

@tandooricactus: I rarely ever threw dudes to the ground because it was louder, they got up quicker

This is actually just not true. While performing the toss sounds loud, no enemies actually hear it. This should have been very obvious when Drew was tossing the line 3 enemies one after the other in close proximity and none of them were suspicious of the noise.

It's still a bad move though since they wake up so quickly from it. If you're going to use that throw move, you should do something else to them afterwards to keep them down longer. You can kick them awake and point a gun at them to make them surrender, which will keep them down forever unless combat mode is engaged or someone finds them. Or you could pick them up and put them in a garbage bin or toilet; they won't wake up ever from that.

If you hold in the trigger to throw the grenade you will switch from underhanded throw to overhanded, making you able to toss it farther.

Also, if you want to cancel the throw while holding down the trigger to throw it, just let go of the aim trigger.

It never ceases to amaze me how little Dan understand the mechanics of this game.

Don't bother with the Gamechangers BBC film. It was really really bad. Sometimes laughably bad. It takes Jack Thompson's side, makes Sam Houser look like a grumbling child. The radio talk show guy in the first 2 minutes of the film sets the tone of how low those filmmakers view video games.

Actually, do go watch it. I want to hear the GB crew tear that thing apart.
