@Lucien_Lachance: I'm considering paying some Skype and ringing and doing a piece for my own job, but don't want to "steal" what should be Patrick's story. :P
If it's easy for me to get my hands on previous games, I'll play 'em for a little bit (and obviously keep going if I really, really like them). If not I'll just jump in head-first. Thankfully a lot of modern games find some way to bring the new players into the story (for the better or worse of the narrative and it being condensed, at least it offers that).
Was expecting to hear some horrid "doom and gloom" story after we all saw how much money must've gone down the sink with the Halcyon and the like, but hearing that he seems to be doing well is strangely comforting in a sense. Thanks for sharing. I had heard about and seen that page but didn't know whether to believe it or not (missed the part where it mentions Dragon's Lair quite specifically and his face is quite obviously aged from all the video footage when the Halcyon was happening so wasn't quite sure whether it was him).
So I've been digging into the history of Rick Dyer and been trying to, in a sense, 'track him down'. Thought after the discussion on Unprofessional Friday last week it'd be interesting to see what everyone else thought of Rick and whether anyone had any info on him?
@alternate: AusGamers is one of the bigger Australian aussie media sites. How do I know? I work in the Aussie media. A lot of us have review copies and I'm pretty sure the embargo lifted for some Australian media today. I'm pretty sure a lot more of those reviews are coming tomorrow. I also know (from more of a professional level) one of the main editors of this website, so yeah, it's legit.
